The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Rey Belongs In Jail - Lets Mia Go Free, Covers Up Vicious Attack On Lola

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) is setting himself up for a big downfall. From the moment Rey arrived on the GC scene, he’s been a straight-laced cop on a mission…to bring down JT Hellstrom’s (Thad Luckinbill) murderers. And he’s quickly built a reputation in GC for being a strict, by-the-book guy.

And so when his sister Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) was viscously assaulted and nearly killed, it seemed pretty clear that Rey would see to it that her attacker would be caught and swiftly brought to justice. Sure, Rey wasn’t technically allowed to work on Lola’s case since he’s her brother, but you just knew that he’d find a way to influence the investigation and possibly even capture the attacker himself.

But then something happened. Rey did some investigating on his own, and he realized that his wife Mia Rosales (Noemi Gonzalez) was the person who attacked Lola. Of course, Mia had been drinking and thought she was attacking Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), but it was still a horrific attack intended to do serious bodily harm to the victim.

Then things started happening that just seemed unbelievable, and totally uncharacteristic for Rey. Mia played the (fake) pregnancy card and persuaded Rey to cover up her crime and not turn her in for attacking Lola. She argued that Rey wouldn’t want his baby born in prison, and Rey totally fell for it. Sure, he made Mia “prove” the pregnancy with a (faked) pregnancy test, but still the whole situation just seemed out of character for Rey.

Plus, Rey has been portrayed as being very protective of Lola ever since Lola came onto the scene. The idea that he would willingly let Lola’s attacker go free – even if it’s a pregnant Mia – is very strange.

So, could we be seeing the beginning of the downfall of Rey as GC’s premier detective? It would certainly seem so, since it surely won’t take too much work for the other detective on the case to put two and two together and realize that the attacker was really after Abby. If any case could be easily solved, it seems that it would be this one, once it comes to light that (a) Lola was wearing Abby’s coat, and (b) Abby and Mia had a huge public fight earlier that night.

And if it ever comes out that Rey knew that Mia was the guilty party but remained quiet about it, then Rey’s job could be in jeopardy. Of course, we know that Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) will be returning in a few weeks, so perhaps Rey’s future with the GCPD will be on thin ice due to his actions, if it comes to light that he didn’t act on what he knew about Mia. Paul may have to take adverse action against Rey.

At any rate, we’ll have to stay tuned to see if Rey ultimately faces any consequences as the result of his uncharacteristic behavior. Do you think Rey will lose his job for covering up Mia’s crime?
