General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that many fans feel like one character wasn’t given enough closure. Drew Cain (Billy Miller) got a lackluster exit to say the list! He simply stepped on the elevator never to be seen again – at least until GH potentially decides to undo his presumed death.
After all, a presumed death isn’t much of a death at all on a soap. If General Hospital wanted Drew off the show permanently, they could’ve had a body found. Even then death isn’t always permanent in the world of daytime dramas! Nevertheless, the presumed death route proves they wanted to leave the door open for Drew’s comeback.
Drew’s return would greatly benefit Peter August (Wes Ramsey), who’s responsible for taking Drew out of the picture. It’s Peter’s fault that Scout Cain (Ella Ramaciera) is facing life without her father. If GH intends to keep Peter around, Drew needs to be alive. Otherwise, many viewers – and Port Charles residents – may never forgive Peter for wiping Drew out.
With all that in mind, General Hospital may be building to Drew’s eventual comeback. It’s be great to see Drew again in 2020, but would Miller be willing to reprise the role? No one can be sure of exactly what went down before Miller’s departure, but it’s clear that some thought TPTB at GH did him dirty.
On Twitter, Kelly Monaco (Sam McCall) certainly wasn’t happy about whatever happened.
“I feel like I have to address this situation,” Monaco said in a now deleted tweet. “#BillyMiller ‘s untimely departure from #gh. Honestly, I can not come up with the words to describe how I feel about this decision… a decision that may not be what our audience thinks to be true. I’m heartbroken… more to come.”
Monaco never delivered on the promise of more details, but if she was disappointed in how things were handled, it’s safe to say Miller was as well. He may or may not be interested in coming back thanks to how he was treated. Miller might prefer sticking with primetime gigs anyway.
Of course, most General Hospital would prefer the real Drew, but GH could always recast the part. There wouldn’t be as much of a reason to bring Drew back without Miller’s fan base, but there’s still Peter’s redemption to consider. As we mentioned, Peter can’t truly be redeemed if Drew stays dead.
A Drew recast might offer some new places to take the character and new pairing possibilities, too. On the other hand, Drew could become a love interest option for Sam again – whether Miller returns or someone else plays the role. Maybe Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) could use some competition for Sam’s heart.
General Hospital spoilers say some hot drama’s brewing in the months ahead, so it’ll be interesting to see if Drew’s comeback is part of the action. We’ll give you updates as other GH news comes in.
