General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) is growing suspicious of Holly Sutton’s (Emma Samms) death and the strange circumstances surrounding it. Anna read a WSB report, which revealed that Holly sometimes did contract work for the agency. Since Anna’s spidey senses are tingling, she thinks there’s more to the story of Holly’s demise.
Of course, GH offered up another big twist when Peter August (Wes Ramsey) slammed his henchman against the wall. Peter raged about how he said to distract Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers), not kill Holly Sutton!
The goon insisted that although he’d been monitoring Holly, his hands were clean in Holly’s death. Peter later smiled smugly and suggested fate had distracted Scorpio for him.
That scene was interesting because it showed fans some crucial things. For starters, Peter was outraged over what he assumed was Holly’s murder. That seemed to imply some guilt, which would line up with Peter bailing on his plan to kill Andre Maddox (Anthony Montgomery) and Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth).
Peter’s still got a dark side since he was satisfied by the outcome, but the fact that HE wasn’t to blame for it was important to him. Between Holly’s WSB involvement and Peter having her monitored, there are other clues here. It makes sense that Holly might’ve sensed trouble and faked her death.
Here’s the thing though: GH is doing everything they can to minimize the damage Peter’s done. Andre’s alive. Franco’s alive. Holly seems to be alive.
Drew Cain (Billy Miller) remains the one truly sinister spot on Peter’s record. They’ve also raised this possibility that Holly might’ve faked her demise, which could be a hint that Drew managed to fake his, too.
When Hamilton Finn (Mishael Morgan) was convinced of Peter’s guilt, he was concerned enough for Violet Finn (Jophielle Love) to move out of Anna’s house. Finn saw Peter as someone who posed a legitimate threat to his child.
Drew could’ve figured out the truth about Peter and stayed “dead” to protect Scout Cain (Ella Ramacieri).
Based on the steely look in Anna’s eyes, she fully intends to get to the bottom of this Holly mystery. We also know this story will pull in some surprising characters. So far, we’re only seeing the faces you’d expect in a story about Holly and Peter.
With that in mind, there’ll have to be a shocking inclusion or two eventually. Drew could easily be become part of this hot plot. Although Drew’s survival alone wouldn’t redeem Peter, it’d help him be able to stick around. Peter doesn’t look quite so nasty if Drew’s alive.
That’s critical if General Hospital plans to pair Peter up with someone after his relationship with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) implodes. There aren’t a ton of women on canvas who could get past Peter killing Drew.
Not to mention it’d be hard to wiggle Peter out of his legal punishment. Bringing Drew back alive is the easiest way to fix this.
Will Anna’s search for answers about Holly lead to answers about Drew as well? It’s even possible Holly’s in on this with Drew. Holly might’ve been hot on Peter’s trail and joined forces with Drew at some point. Holly definitely seems to know what’s up since she “died” right as Peter’s henchman began hovering.
Could Billy Miller return to help wrap up this mystery, even for a short-term arc? That’s one option to consider. Another option would be a Drew recast. Either way, this storyline has to be building to something bigger than just Holly being alive. That’s not enough of a bombshell since there are already signs that Holly’s just fine.
A big reveal involving an alive Drew could be part of Peter’s exciting exposure. Peter’s downfall has become a long-awaited moment for GH fans, so the show needs to do it up right! Will Anna discover Drew faked his death and learn why? Will Anna bring Drew home and finally expose Peter?
