General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) has a habit of cozying up to people so she can use them to her advantage. General Hospital fans know Nelle’s latest manipulation target is Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), but Nina certainly isn’t the first. There’s a long list of people who trusted Nelle in some way and got burned.
That list includes Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom), who made a deal with his prison bestie at Pentonville. Nelle needed Ryan’s help, so she pushed him to stab her in just the right spot.
There was no real risk to Nelle thanks to Ryan’s precision, but it gave Nelle an opportunity to rant about how much danger she was in. With Nelle, it’s all about what angle she can work!
In exchange for Ryan’s help, Nelle vowed to give him pictures of Ava Jerome (Maura West) and provide updates on what Ryan’s former flame was up to. In other words, Nelle was supposed to be Ryan’s link to the outside world.
Ryan should’ve known Nelle wouldn’t come through for him. Nelle has never been the kind of gal who keeps her promises, so it’s no surprise she bailed on this one.
Of course, it’s possible Nelle has secretly been snapping pics and delivering news to Ryan, but it’s doubtful considering Nelle’s busy schedule. Nelle’s completely focused on the custody case and has been fighting hard to make sure she gets her son.
All Nelle can think about right now is winning custody of Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) in court.
It seems far more likely that Nelle made Ryan a promise knowing she wouldn’t have to keep it. Nelle probably assumes Ryan will stay behind bars, so she’ll never have to see him again anyway. Why should Nelle take the time to visit Ryan and give him what he wants? Nelle’s only concerned with herself and her own needs.
However, Ryan is an insane serial killer who tends to keep popping up. GH writers left Ryan’s storyline dangling, so it may just be a matter of time before he escapes and wreaks havoc. Knowing how crazy Ryan is, it’s easy to imagine Ryan targeting Nelle once he’s free.
Can’t you envision Ryan menacingly moving closer and pointing out that Nelle betrayed him? Since Nelle couldn’t grant a simple wish of giving him pics and info, Ryan could reveal that he had no choice but to seek Ava on the outside. Naturally, Ryan would squeeze in this threatening chat with Nelle as well.
Ryan might add that he thought they were friends. Since Nelle didn’t keep her end of the bargain, Ryan could suggest that if they’re not friends, they’re enemies. Ryan and Nelle really are kindred spirits since they toss people aside that they have no use for.
It seems like a massive mistake for Nelle to ignore Ryan – someone who could go after both Nelle and Wiley.
After the looming bio daughter reveal, this would be a great opportunity for Nina to intervene and protect Nelle. Maybe Nina could land in deadly danger herself! It’d be nice to see some genuine emotion from Nelle. If Nina were to get wounded, maybe Nelle would show signs of panic and true love for her mother.
