General Hospital (GH) spoilers update for Thursday, May 21, teases that Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) will tell the judge why she should get sole custody of her son. Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) has coached Nelle, whose goal to come across as authentic and not too saccharine. Nelle’s about as phony as it gets when she’s trying to present a better version of herself, so this will be a real challenge.
Nevertheless, there’s a lot a stake. Nelle wants full custody of Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson), so she has to put some real heart into this. Since there does seem to be part of Nelle that cares about Wiley, maybe Nelle can tap into that and show off some true feelings.
This will naturally be a piece of performance art as well, but that’s just Nelle! She’ll be herself but perhaps with a dash of genuineness thrown in. Meanwhile, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) will contemplate this custody battle and her role in it. It’ll be hard for Nina to decide if she should testify on Nelle’s behalf.
Once Nina confides how torn she is, Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) may offer some guidance. Nina knows where Jax stands as far as Nelle is concerned, but this isn’t about Jax. It’s about Nina and what she feels is the right call.
Even though Jax wouldn’t support Nelle, he may think Nina has to figure out for herself what she wants to do. However, Jax may also remind Nina that a little boy’s future at stake. He might think Nina had better be prepared to live with her choice if things go south.
Nina may lean toward supporting Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) by the time she arrives in court. She might plan to get on the stand and throw Nelle under the bus. Nina’s testimony might even start heading in that direction, but what about Nelle’s half-heart pendant necklace?
It’s right there in the courtroom – just waiting to be spotted by Nelle’s biological mother. Nina may gawk at that pendant and make the connection. That’d most likely put Nina firmly on Nelle’s side. It could also set Nelle up for at least a joint custody win and provoke Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) fury in the process!
Other General Hospital spoilers say Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) will receive comfort from a surprising source. Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) has an interesting link to Sasha, who he brought to town as Nina’s fake daughter.
Since Sasha ultimately battled guilt and grew to care about Nina, Valentin knows she’s a good person at heart. Their love for Nina is something that unites them.
Valentin will reflect on complex situations and suggest things aren’t usually black and white. He may assume there’s another side of the story when it comes to Sasha’s latest betrayal. It’ll be nice to see Valentin’s softer side, which has been presenting itself more often lately.
Even so, Valentin’s shady side will remain intact – as evidenced by his upcoming announcement. General Hospital spoilers say Valentin will deliver a shocker, so it sounds like the big moment is finally here. Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and the rest of the Quartermaine clan may find out about Valentin’s ELQ takeover mission.
Back with Sasha, she’ll spin out of control as her storyline takes another reckless turn. GH fans can expect another rough day for Sasha as she inches further down a terrible path. It looks like drugs and alcohol will be the magic combo to help Sasha cope, but she could be moving into the danger zone.
Next, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) will form a plan to prove Holly Sutton’s (Emma Samms) not so dead after all. Laura Collins (Genie Francis) will become Robert’s ally in his search for answers, but she’ll fear fatal confirmation awaits.
The idea of Robert’s heart breaking all over again will leave Laura unsettled, but she’ll back Robert up anyway and hope for the best. Robert seems to be right about Holly’s survival, so he should pull off his goal and possibly uncover some Peter August (Wes Ramsey) clues in the process.
Peter wasn’t responsible for Holly’s “death,” but he was having her monitored just before it happened. Robert and Laura may find a trail that leads straight to Peter down the road, but Peter will cling to his happiness with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) for now.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) will rip into Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) over a betrayal. It’ll seem like Olivia’s been cheating on Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth), so Brook Lynn won’t appreciate that one bit! She’ll let Olivia have it, but it appears Brook Lynn’s got it all wrong.
Finally, we should mention that one beloved GH character will be rocked by pregnancy news. Olivia might be an option, although it’d be a pretty strange one. Brook Lynn and Maxie still seem like the most likely contenders based on all available General Hospital spoilers, but we’ll see how it all plays out!
