General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) could become the keeper of a powerful secret – one that could change several lives forever if she refuses to keep her mouth shut.
GH fans know Ava asked Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) about the necklace Carly claims to be getting repaired, but Carly lied that it wasn’t ready yet.
It seems Carly’s hoping that if she stalls long enough, Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) will forget all about that half-heart pendant. The pendant previously belonged to Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) and could easily be recognized by Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).
It’s best if that necklace never lands on Avery’s neck again, but there’s a big problem.
Avery might’ve forgotten about her good luck charm under normal circumstances, but these aren’t normal circumstances. Now that Avery’s grieving Sonny, she’s determined to get the necklace back that her daddy liked.
As a result, Ava’s going to do just what she promised and follow up on this later. Carly’s bound to act weird when Ava keeps pestering her for the pendant, so Ava should get suspicious. General Hospital spoilers say Carly may eventually have to claim the jeweler lost it or something along those lines.
Even so, there could be trouble if Ava manages to put the clues together and realizes this half-heart pendant is a match for Nina’s. Avery might describe it to Ava or even recognize Nina’s if Nina starts wearing her necklace again.
That could lead Ava to grill Avery about where she found this lucky charm of hers. It’s easy to see how Ava might eventually reach the same conclusion Carly did – that dead Nelle is Nina’s biological daughter. If so, what will Ava do with this information? Will Ava blab the secret to Nina?
There are a few good reasons why Ava might stay quiet. For starters, Ava recently pointed out to Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) that some secrets are better kept under wraps. Ava herself kept Trina out of the loop on Marcus Taggert’s (Asante Jones) survival for a while – and it was for Trina’s own good.
Now that Ava has come to think of Nina as a friend or at least more of an ally, she may be hesitant to hurt her. After all, Nelle is dead and gone. As it stands right now, Nina can keep believing that her daughter was a sweet girl who hopefully had a good life.
If Ava comes clean, she’ll know Nina will have to face the facts. Nelle was nightmare of a person who struggled without a good mom to guide her. Not to mention Nelle is dead! That alone eliminates hope for Nina and would completely devastate her.
Ava wasn’t on good terms with Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) when she did – and that’s something that haunts her. If Ava drops this bomb on Nina, she’ll be putting Nina in a similiar situation.
Nina will have to live with the guilt of going against Nelle in the custody case and setting off the chain reaction that ended with Nelle’s death.
Finally, Ava would be wise to hold onto this secret as leverage for when she needs it. Right now, Ava’s got the upper hand. There’s no need for an advantage since Ava has custody of Avery, and there’s nothing Carly can do about it.
That’ll certainly change once Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) comes back in the picture down the road.
Ava can’t predict the future, but she might realize she should save this secret for a rainy day. It could be something Ava puts in her back pocket – just in case there comes a time when she needs some ammo against Carly. That day could come once Sonny returns and wants primary custody of Avery again.
Bottom line, the Nelle necklace secret seems destined to fall into Ava’s hands, but she may choose to spare Nina the painful truth and keep this new dirt on Carly to herself for now. We’ll fill you in as other GH news and updates pop up.
