The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) may frame Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) after her Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) plot blows up. Will Phyllis divert suspicion to a new scapegoat and try to save herself?
Phyllis scored herself a job at Marchetti with a couple goals in mind. It’s true that Phyllis wants to work with Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier), but her main objective is setting Diane up.
Phyllis plans to make it look like Diane is intentionally sabotaging Marchetti, but this plan is a disaster waiting to happen.
There’s no logical reason why Diane would want to tank the company when she’s thriving at her new job and working with her beloved son.
Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is going to be incredibly suspicious once the finger gets pointed at Diane.
As for Summer, she’s already been worried about Phyllis going after her rival. It probably won’t be long until both Kyle and Summer are cornering Phyllis to make accusations.
Fall preview spoilers suggest Phyllis has met her match in Diane, so taking her down won’t be as easy as she thought.
Phyllis thinks she’s got everything under control, but there’s a good chance Summer and Kyle will figure out that Diane was set up.
What happens then? Phyllis won’t want her own world to implode, so her best bet would be to abort the mission and make it look like someone else framed Diane instead.
In other words, Phyllis will need to frame someone for the frame-up! Adam seems like a great fit now that he’s working at Jabot.
Although Adam claims to be cool with Diane, Phyllis could easily make it seem like Adam still carries a grudge over the past and targeted her.
After all, Kyle already feels like Adam is a dangerous wildcard who brings too much baggage to the table.
Since Kyle is basically hoping Adam will prove he’s trouble, he won’t ask too many questions if evidence points in his direction.
As for Summer, she may put her own suspicions about Phyllis aside to keep the peace between her mom and husband.
If Phyllis’ scheme to frame Diane gets exposed, her best option will be to take Adam down for it – or at least try to!
