In tonight’s S.W.A.T. episode, Tan enjoyed a rare night out. He went to a fancy gala with his new love interest. She was getting an award. He went to support her. Tan was coming off of a nasty divorce and he needed some fun. It didn’t matter that it was work for her. He just enjoys being happy again.

What he has with Olivia wasn’t serious. They like each other only they both agreed early on to keep things casual. It therefore didn’t come as a surprise that Olivia jumped at the chance of a great job offer. It was overseas and so what she has with Tan was coming to an end. Tan didn’t mind. He still congratulated her on her promotion. She was going to be basically running things in the Middle East. And she loves it.

Olivia was a War Correspondent. Being stuck in LA would have been too tame for her. She needed to run after the action. Tan was the same one and that’s why he joined SWAT.

They were making out on the balcony when all of sudden they heard gunshots. Some gunmen had come to the party. They couldn’t call 911 because their phones were jammed. Tan also didn’t have his gun because he had to check it in at the front desk. They were defenseless and the gunmen seemed to be serious. The group of gunmen that broke into the party had wanted access to the newspapers vault.

The vault could only be accessed by three people. One was the guy that ran the paper. The other was the second in command and the third was the accountant.

The gunmen asked for two of these people by name to step forward. They wanted them to use their keys to gain access to the vault. Tan asked Olivia what was in the vault. She said it was a bunch of things they collected in pursuit of a story. It was a bank of information. It’s not like there was going to be gold or cash in there. The vault also needed to be opened with two keyholders.

Declan Smart didn’t want to play ball. He refused to put in his code to access the vault. The guy in charge didn’t like that and so he killed him. He then asked for the third keyholder to be brought down. He even asked that they bring another hostage with the keyholder.

Their killer said he would keep killing Susan’s colleagues if she didn’t put in her code. She was forced into doing it. They gained access to the vault and the bad guys didn’t find what they were after. They left frustrated. They planned on killing everyone that saw their faces and luckily that’s when Tan intervened.

Tan escaped off the balcony. He made it around to the other part of the building. He killed a couple of gunmen. He stole their radio and turned it to the police frequency. Tan called in for backup. He also tried to save lives. He stopped anyone else from getting hurt, but the guy in charge got away.

Olivia being the journalist that she was she had asked the man who was paying him to do this. He said no one was paying him. Whatever he was after it had to be personal. This could mean he’s trying to kill a story by any means possible. And that might include going after the journalist behind it.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a list connecting stories to journalists. Declan might have had it. He’s dead now and he can speak no tales. The only other person who might know about it was Ken. He was the other keyholder. He got shot in the arm. He’ll make it and he can answer questions.

He later told SWAT about a story that had its stuff removed from the vault. The story was about private contractors. It’s called Bolton Defense. The company was run by a man named Bolton. Bolton hired former military. His gunmen that shot up the party were identified.

The guy in charge was Former Captain John Mulcahy. He works for Bolton. Olivia didn’t know the full story only she did hear rumors that these private contractors tend to ignore International Law when they’re deployed. One rumor said that they might have tortured people for information.

If it’s true that do in fact break laws to do their jobs, it could find them blackballed from the industry as well as facing charges. They were already facing charges of murder because Olivia saw their faces. They must be hiding something really bad.

They wanted evidence of the story. They wanted to kill the story. SWAT took a minute to rally around Tan because Hondo’s house had gotten broken into.

It turns out it was Bruce Martin again. Nichelle had let it pass when he messed up her office at the community center. She couldn’t let it pass now because he trashed their house and he scared her family. She told Hondo everything. He was upset of course. He wanted to arrest Bruce. He just didn’t understand why now. Bruce should have been scared off after the last warning.

Hondo left it up to Detective Burrows to arrest Bruce. He meanwhile tracked down the journalist. He was sadly too late to help her and they also found Olivia looking around the dead woman’s house. Olivia heard from her contacts in Syria. She knows what the story is now. She said that the contractors went to a village looking for insurgents.

They didn’t find any. All they found were women and children. They tortured the women and made the children watch. There was one child that managed to record the whole thing. He gave it to Floris. Floris then gave it to Olivia.

Olivia didn’t know she had been sent the package. She just knew that Floris wrote the story. She didn’t find the evidence of it at Floris’s house and SWAT sent her home. Home proved to be dangerous.

Mulcahy came after her. He waited until she got the package to make his move. He then stole the item and left it up to his partner to kill her. SWAT saved Olivia. They arrested Mulcahy. They got back the evidence. Olivia was now going to finish writing the story for her friend. Bolton Defense was going down.

Hicks celebrated by going out for drinks with his old SWAT buddies, Buck and Mumford.

And Detective Burrows was too late to arrest Bruce. Bruce got his gun from his house and he went after Nichelle. Hondo found Bruce with a gun in his kitchen.

Bruce was still blaming Nichelle for what he did. He got fired from his job because of cronyism. He didn’t get his second job because Nichelle refused to write a reference for a man that could have led to her getting arrested. He then got kicked out of the house by the wife. He was drinking too much. He was just too angry. He failed to see that he destroyed his own life. And so Hondo arrested him tonight.

And Tan decided to fight for Olivia because he really does like her. It stopped being casual for him and he got lucky that Olivia felt the same way. She was going to turn down the job overseas.

THE END!
