Kate Middleton’s pregnancy plans could be the reason why she and Prince William are not traveling to Brazil to cheer on the British team at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics this year. Even though Kate Middleton and Prince William were front and center for the 2012 summer Olympics in London two years ago, the royal couple is staying home, leading to the speculation that the Zika virus might get in the way of their pregnancy plans.
Kate Middleton and Prince William love a good sporting event more than they love a photo op and that’s why many royal watchers can’t help but wonder what’s keeping them home from the Olympics this year.
After all, Kate Middleton and Prince William’s appearance at several events at the 2012 Olympics was the last time the public saw the royal couple in their most relaxed and natural state as they cheered on their British athletes and at one point even shared a passionate kiss while celebrating a team victory.
If the Duke and Duchess are not going to Brazil for the 2016 Olympics this year, that only means one thing: Kate Middleton’s pregnant or she’s planning on getting pregnant in the next several months. That’s the only reason why Prince William and Kate Middleton would opt out from traveling to South America, in fear of the widespread Zika virus that has taken over the entire continent.
One royal source even hints that there was a last minute change of plans by saying, “It was under consideration at some point that some or one of them might go, but for a whole range of reasons they are not going.”
Pregnant women are being warned to stay away from Brazil as the Zika virus as it might cause microcephaly, eye defects, hearing loss and impaired growth in newborn babies. If that weren’t enough, if a man were to contract the Zika virus through a mosquito bite, he could affect his partner and put their unborn baby at risk.
Clearly, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge want to take no chances especially if they are serious in wanting to give Prince George and Princess Charlotte a sibling sooner rather than later.
