The body of Paul Henshaw had been found mutilated on tonight’s episode of “The Mysteries of Laura”. Though the crime scene itself was eerily familiar.

Apparently, Paul had been killed just like a group of women had been over twenty years ago. Then there had been a man they had called the killer St. Valentine and he had received his nicknames because of the way he targeted young men and women around that particular holiday. But the crime spree eventually came to an end when the police shot and killed St. Valentine’s in a shoot-out.

And that’s why no one had seriously considered that Paul’s death had anything to do with St. Valentine’s. Though their hands were later forced when their only suspect – Paul’s girlfriend – couldn’t be found.

St. Valentine used to kill couples and he would stab the male partner but drug the women. And so the cops didn’t find the women until after the kill had dropped off their bodies in the middle of Central Park. Yet no one wanted to wait around for the body of Paul’s girlfriend, Rachelle, to be found.

So when everything began to point to there being a copycat St. Valentine’s, the groom statue even found in his mouth, Santiani had her detectives combed through the old case files. Although the paperwork didn’t beat having someone that had worked the case come in. Therefore, Laura’s old boss had been granted leave from prison on this one.

And it seems he had a few theories that hadn’t made it into the authorized paper work. He said he had initially noticed scuff marks at all of the early crime scenes. So he had always thought that killer must have been using a rolling suitcase to transport the women’s bodies.

Which would explain why the killer had never been caught carrying unconscious women around town but Laura had been stumped by the scuff marks at the latest crime scene. She wanted to know how a copycat could have seen pictures of the original crime scenes in order to duplicate the marks. Yet Meredith told her that crime scene photos could now be found easily online.

In fact, someone had sold pictures of the crime scene so Jake was able to follow the paper trail to some weirdo named Kevin. Kevin had become so obsessed with St. Valentine that he had collected everything he could about the original killer. Even Glen Baker’s tooth that his family later sold.

So Kevin naturally became the next suspect but funnily enough he didn’t deny his continued obsession. He freely admitted that he was a fan yet he went on to say that he was still fan because the St. Valentine killer hadn’t actually been caught. And so that’s when he laid out all of his “evidence” for the detectives.

He told that there had been a foot print at one of the crime scenes that couldn’t have matched Glen Baker and he also mentioned that no DNA had ever been run. Though Laura’s old time friend Dan Hauser had become quite defensive when Santiani began to question his investigation back then. He said they had found Glen dumping another body so they knew they had the right man.

But Laura being Laura had showed him something that he hadn’t seen the first time around and that was how the men could have only been killed by two people instead of one. So the detectives weren’t looking for a copycat. They were actually looking for Glen’s partner.

Apparently that’s why the profilers had made so many mistakes back in the day. Unbeknownst to them, they had been profiling to different men.

So Jakes took a second look at the two profiles and he figured out which belonged to Glen and which belonged to his partner. And while there had been one man profiled to have enjoyed the violence, there had been another that had been profiled as idolizing women. Which is the women hadn’t been as violently killed as the men.

And the guy the detectives were looking for was the latter. When he started to kill again, he barely spent as much time on Paul as Glen did. Though that hadn’t explained why he had laid doormat for nearly twenty-two years.

Therefore, Meredith did some research into the candy wrapper found at the crime scene and she was able to cross-reference online buyers with tips from the original murder cases. And she eventually came upon Wayne Lewis. Wayne Lewis had been a lot of this particular candy (like six boxes) and his address in 1994 had been listed as suspicious but no one had checked it out because Glen Baker had been found a few days after that tip.

And so Laura followed up on Wayne’s address where she ran into his ex-wife. A woman that had recently dumped him because he had put her too much on pedestal and who looked frighteningly like Rachelle. So the detectives theorized at firs that he wanted to kill a version of his wife.

Yet the story was a lot sicker than that. Wayne it seems had met his ex-wife because of the original killings. Her parents had ordered her a security alarm to protect her against the evil St. Valentine at the time and Wayne had showed up to install it. So she soon began dating him because he had made her feel safe.

So after she kicked him out, he thought the killings would frighten her enough to come back to him. But Laura had instead used his ex-wife to draw him out of hiding. And that led the detectives to finding Rachelle.

She had been drugged but thankfully she had still been alive.

And afterwards, the crew finally got to enjoy Valentine’s day like everyone else. Except for Laura that is. She had found out about Jake’s date for the night and that ruined her plans to tell him about how she feels.

THE END!
