Near death experiences have a way of making people reevaluate their feelings for someone, and question the events of the past. While Paul Williams fights for his life on CBS’s daytime drama The Young and the Restless, another character has been seriously affected by the tragedy, and it’s not his wife Christine.
Paul Williams and Nikki Newman have been friends since they were children, and their closeness over the years has driven a wedge between them and their respective partners. Since Paul was shot by Austin, and is in critical care Nikki has been deeply affected by the whole ordeal. She tried to visit Paul in the hospital, but his wife Christine kicked her out, and upset her even more. Then Nikki proceeded to have flashbacks of her and Paul together back in the day. And Nikki just learned she and Paul most likely have a son together, since Dylan has the same blood type as him and Ian Ward apparently can’t have children.
Although right now The Young and the Restless spoilers are teasing that Paul Williams might not live, fans are confident that he will pull through. Generally, when soap operas kill off a major character and the actor leaves the show, we hear about it in advance, and there has been no spoilers leaked that Doug Davidson is actually exiting the canvas. And, seeing as how Davidson has been a member of the Y&R cast for over thirty years, his exit would be highly publicized, and we would have heard about it prior to the shooting.
So, assuming Paul Williams pulls through and survives the shooting, is Nikki going to profess her love for him? Christine seems seriously concerned about their Nikki and Paul’s relationship right now, and he’s not even awake! Imagine the damage Nikki could do once he wakes up. Women use babies to force a man to commit to them all the time. Dylan is not exactly a baby anymore, but could his DNA be enough to reignite an old flame between Nikki and Paul?
