A new book about Robert Kennedy Jr has taken him to task over his womanizing ways and questions why Cheryl Hines would have ever taken up with the serial cheater. Author Jerry Oppenheimer rips bare RFK Jr in the biography ‘RFK Jr and the Dark Side of the Dream’ – including anecdotes about the notorious Kennedy’s heroin abuse, his chronic cheating, and the suicide of his wife Mary Kennedy while RFK was busy romancing Cheryl Hines who is now wife #3.
According to GLOBE, a friend of the Kennedy clan quoted in Oppenheimer’s RFK biography said, “Any woman who gets involved with Bobby does so with her eyes open or their brains lopped off. Any woman who thinks they’re going to change Bobby is misguided and purposefully ignorant.” Certainly his last wife Mary Kennedy found out the hard way – she was reportedly so despondent over a custody battle with RFK and his dating Cheryl Hines that she hung herself in a barn on the couple’s estate.
Both Robert Kennedy Jr and Cheryl Hines insist that he had split from Mary Kennedy prior to them starting their relationship but, given his track record of flagrant infidelity, that’s a big question mark. And, to make things worse, Mary Kennedy said it was she that introduced RFK to Hines at a charity event and that may have been what cost her her husband and, ultimately, her life.
After Mary Kennedy killed herself, RFK released some information from their divorce documents to try and show that he was a victim in the relationship rather than the villain. But releasing this information may not have shown RFK in the better light he intended. One of the anecdotes from the documents was about a night he came home and found her drunk and then said she began hitting him while screaming.
The divorce doc says Mary yelled, “He is a demon. He is a demon. He is the most evil kind of man in the world. Everything he does is evil and a fraud. He is a philanderer, an adulterer, a sex addict.” According to those close to the Kennedy clan, Mary’s drunken ravings may have been spot on. Shockingly, immediately after Mary Kennedy’s suicide, RFK Jr shipped one of his kids off to LA to live with Cheryl Hines.
Then, a few weeks after Mary Kennedy was buried, Robert Kennedy Jr had her body dug up and moved to another area of the cemetery away from the other Kennedys. And this is the guy that Cheryl Hines still decided to marry. What could RFK possibly have to offer that would get Hines to say I do to this obviously problematic man capable of driving a woman to suicide? Other than that oh-so-famous last name that is…
A few years ago, The New York Post published notes on RFK’s cheating journals where he logged sexual conquests. These were notes about his adultery throughout his marriage to Mary Kennedy, sometimes with several women a day, in a variety of sexual acts including intercourse. He was also named in a divorce of a famed plastic surgeon whose wife RFK was accused of sleeping with during the same window of time his wife killed herself and that he took up with Cheryl Hines.
So the question is, does Cheryl Hines care more about having the Kennedy name than having a husband she can trust not to tomcat around? The answer seems obvious…
