“General Hospital” spoilers show that the GH showrunners sure love their baby drama. Over the years, we’ve seen countless baby daddy mix ups (both accidental and deliberate), more GH miscarriages than you can count, and so many unexpected pregnancies you would think that General Hospital – the actual hospital – doesn’t carry contraceptives at their pharmacy. Or perhaps they’re still handing out those faulty ELQ condoms… But there’s one character in particular who has had more than her fair share of baby drama – Lulu Spencer (Emma Rylan).
Think about it. Lulu found out she and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) can’t carry a baby to term, so they signed up Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) to serve as surrogate for an embryo they had created in the lab so that it was genetically theirs. However, you’ll recall that Maxie miscarried the Dante and Lulu baby then got accidentally knocked up by Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). Worse yet, Maxie let them continue to think the baby was theirs.
And, as if things couldn’t get any worse, turns out Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) stole another of their embryos and implanted it so she could honey trap Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson). Britt also used the same baby to lure in Nikolas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher). Ultimately, Lulu and Dante gave back Maxie and Spinelli’s baby and recovered baby Rocco from Britt.
But they have two more cases of General Hospital baby drama still “gestating” that we can’t wait to see play out. Lulu has not one, but two more embryos floating around out there – one in the hands of Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and the other in a secret facility to keep it safe after Dr Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) handed it back as a get-out-of-jail-free card. Thing is, Lulu doesn’t know about the one that Helena has.
Remember back when Lulu was frozen and Stavros Cassadine (Robert Kelker-Kelly) had decided they would have a baby so he had an embryo created that was to be his and Lulu’s baby? After Dante killed Stavros (at least ‘GH killed’) and the Crichton Clark Clinic was destroyed, Helena saved the Lulu-Stavros embryo and ran off with it. Here’s what I’m hoping for… Lulu and Dante are about to face some relationship troubles thanks to Dante’s growing closeness with Valerie Spencer (Brytni Sarpi).
What if Lulu does what so many foolish women do and decides to have a baby to salvage the relationship? Then, when Lulu goes to get implanted with her embryo that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) promised was locked safely away, Helena makes a switch. Then Lulu could carry a child that’s hers and Stavros’ instead of hers and Dante’s! How twisted and fun would that be?
What would be particularly weird is that Lulu’s baby would be Nikolas’ brother (since Stavros is Nik’s dad) and Lulu is also Nikolas’ half-sister. What would that family tree look like? Wouldn’t that, in some weird way, make her both mother and part-sister to her own son? Holy cow! Plus you know that Helena would come after that baby since Stavros was always her favorite and now he’s dead and gone for good (at least ‘GH dead and gone for good’).
There have also been some “General Hospital” rumors on the web that Robin Scorpio (Kelly McCullough) would be implanted with Dante and Lulu’s embryo at the hands of Helena. There was some chat that Robin would turn back up in Port Charles, at some point, pregnant. The question is, if Robin does turn up carrying Dante and Lulu’s baby, did she implant it to save the embryo? Was she forced to implant it? Or does Robin perhaps think it’s her baby with some love interest of hers?
