#Stitchers starts with a woman looking around an apartment. She sees a man and a woman kissing in bed. They glow with strange light. She reaches out and touches the woman and her skins starts to glow. It takes over her whole body and she grimaces in pain then she stops. She’s in the same apartment but no one is there. She looks around and sees a guy using a device. He seems to be a projection of some sort. She watches the guy sit down and then she sees the bomb he has made. The timer clicks down, she says oh no and the bomb goes off.

10 hours earlier in a lab at CalTech, Dr Hardwyck takes to Kirsten Clark about a complaint against her by Camille. They share a house and Camille says Kirsten took her research and she wants her suspended. Kirsten asks if this is about the dishes she left in the sink. They argue about dishes. Kirsten says Camille may have done this to herself to sabotage her. Kirsten messes with a device and fixes whatever was wrong. Detective Fisher from the LAPD finds her on campus with bad news.

He takes her to ID her father’s body. He asks if she wants a moment alone. She thinks back to him walking out on her. She says she’s good and he offers her a grief counselor. She asks if he’s sure he killed himself and says she thinks they’re wrong. Fisher explains what factors indicate suicide. She says chest is a rare spot for suicide. She asks about the gun and he shows her a crime scene photo. She says he was left handed. She asks how many photos he took. She says she wants copies of the photos.

Fisher asks why she and her dad weren’t close. He says her reaction is abnormal. Kirsten says she didn’t kill him and was in class when he was murdered. Fisher insists it’s a suicide. Another cop comes in and turns on a news story about a bombing. She uses her phone to steal some info from the computer. Fisher asks her again why they weren’t close and she says he can detect since he’s a detective. She leaves. She heads home to Echo Park.

Camille says she’s kicking her out of the house but Kirsten says it’s her house. Camille threatens to sue her for academic sabotage. Kirsten asks why she’s locked out and Camille says she’s on academic suspension so they locked her out. Kirsten says she needs to use her laptop and Camille says no way. Kirsten says someone close to her died today and she says she needs to look at the police files. She says she needs a program behind the university firewall. Camille says no way can she hack on her laptop.

Kirsten asks if that’s a no. Camille says she would have better luck breaking into Hardwyck’s office to use his and Kirsten says okay and leaves. Someone follows her as she leaves the house. Hardwyck leaves his office and Kirsten waits for someone to open the door. She goes inside. She spots the worn down keys on his security device and gets the combination in seconds. She sits at his computer then hacks into the LAPD.

She goes through the crime scene photos and sees the K from the encyclopedia set was missing. What looks like a SWAT team busts in, holds her at gunpoint. She says they’re overreacting for campus security. They put a black bag over her head. Kirsten finds herself in a Chinese restaurant when the bag is taken off her head. She asks if she can call a lawyer and the woman there says everyone she knows is dead or hates her.

The woman asks her about her dad’s suicide. She says it wasn’t her dad and he didn’t kill himself. She says his name was Ed Clark and her real dad dumped him off on him. She says her mother died and then she was abandoned with Ed. She asks where she is. The woman says she knows she didn’t feel anything when she saw Ed was dead. Kirsten says she won’t get it. She says she has temporal dyplasia and has no concept of time.

She says she doesn’t know what time feels like. She says they grabbed her from Hardwyck’s so she couldn’t be there that long since she’s not hungry and doesn’t have to pee. She rattles of the list of her afternoon. Kirsten says she didn’t react is because the moment she saw him it was like it had been dead forever. She says that’s temporal dysplasia. She asks to go. The woman says she’s been on her radar a long time. She says her name is Maggie Baptiste and they need someone with her aptitude.

She says she works for a federal agency and says not to worry about guessing. She says it’s time sensitive but Kirsten says she already has a crime to solve. Maggie says she can either come work with her or she can leave and be homeless and on academic suspension. She says she has no money and nowhere to go. Kirsten says she can swap sex for a place to stay. Maggie says she knows that’s not her thing. She tells Kirsten to come see what it’s about.

They head into the back of the Chinese restaurant. A woman pulls a curtain to reveal an elevator. Maggie scans her hand and you see an elevator rising from deep underground. They get on. Maggie takes her into a site with computers everywhere and all kinds of cool looking tech. She tells her – welcome to the Stitchers program. She shows her something they call the fish tank. Cameron comes over and says he thought they were going to check her out first.

Maggie says no time and she wants her ready in 20. Kirsten and Cameron get in a pissing match. He says that was the interview then asks if anyone told her what they do there. He shows her a corpse and he says the guy was from an explosion. He says that guy is the bomber, named Brandt, a guy with a degree in explosive. He says he’s there to share memories with them. Cameron says the conscience lingers for 30 seconds and if you get a sample fast enough, you can stop the degradation of the brain.

He says they look at the memories through a process called stitching. He says it takes a living person to interpret them. He says they want to put her brain in there. He says they’ve only done it once and the girl couldn’t take it. He says they want her to look at the bombs. He says they need to find out where the other bombs are that he planted that aren’t blown up yet. She asks if it really works and asks him to show her. He says to get her clothes off so they can get busy.

He says her mind will project an image of her in the scene. Cameron says the suit makes for a better connection between. He introduces her to Linus another geek on the project. Cameron says he’ll drive Brandt’s memory for her and they’ll talk on coms. He says the emotionally charged memories will pull her like a magnet. He introduces Ayo who is there to make sure she doesn’t die. They tell her to get into the drink and she goes into the fish tank.

They turn down the lights and tell her to relax. Cameron says he needs a go for stitching. Everyone gives a thumbs up and he tells her to use the keyboards under her hands to bounce out of the memory. She asks for her pincode and he looks then smiles and says it’s I heart Linus all lowercase. She asks if she can change it. Cameron says he’ll be with her the whole time and says she won’t be alone. They start up the neurosync and she comes to gasping in strange lights.

Kirsten teeters and gasps then finds herself in the living room. She asks where she is and Cameron says she’s in Brandt’s apartment. Kirsten says she’s cold and he tells her she’s not. They wonder if she’s in shock. Cameron wants to bounce her but Maggie says to give her time. He says they can bounce her in the first two minutes only and after that it’s better if it’s her. He tells her to slow down her breathing. She tries to slow it down and tells him to tell Linus to shut the hell up.

Cameron says to calm down and they won’t bounce her. She gets it under control and Ayo says she stabilized. Cameron says that’s better. She sees a man and a woman on the couch kissing. She sees Brandt arguing with Julie. She asks what to do and Cameron says to check out the apartment. He says to look for addresses, photos of buildings or anything to tell them where the bombs are. She hears what sounds like a phone dialing. There’s a door she can’t open and Cameron says to will it to open. She does.

She sees Brandt in bed with Julie then looks at them. She touches Julie then gets coated in the glowing stuff. It’s like she’s having an orgasm. The signal starts to fail. Ayo says her EEG is off the chart. Brandt shows Julie the device she made and says she’s going to save so many lives. Then Julie tells Brandt they’re taking it from her. Julie is hit by a bus. Linus says Julie died three months ago. We see the funeral, a street sign and then Kirsten comes out of it.

She goes into the other room and hears the tones again. She sees Brandt. He fiddled with the device then sat down in the chair to wait. He’s holding Julie’s ID tag from her work. The bomb goes off. Kirsten seizes in the tank then she comes back and looks at the table before it blew up. Cameron asks if she’s okay. Kirsten says the bomb was on purpose. They realize Brandt’s brain is collapsing. They have to pull her out. She puts in her exit pin code and Cameron yells for her to bounce.

Kirsten gets out and of the tank and looks strange. She touches Cameron’s head then says blue door, Sepulveda and then she kisses him and says she’s so sorry. She says Julie then collapses. He catches her. Kirsten wakes in a bed the next morning. She’s dressed in unfamiliar clothes. She goes into the kitchen and finds Cameron making a smoothie. He asks how she feels and she asks whose bed she slept in. She slaps him and he says Ayo from the lab changed her. He says he slept on top of the covers.

He asks what she remembers the stitch and kissing him. She says no and makes a face. She says she doesn’t feel like kissing him now. He says to drink the smoothie so they can get back to the lab. Linus says he searched social media and found some background on Brandt and Julie. Kirsten says she saw it happen and says Julie said something about something being stolen from her. Kirsten says Julie came out of that building before she died.

Kirsten asks to stitch her back in but they tell her the brain is too old. She says blue door and Sepulveda. She says both meant something. Maggie says they’ve been searching but haven’t found anything. Kirsten says she can search faster. Linus says he can do field work. Cameron says the brain was degraded and it could have been from nothing. Kirsten says the memory was real and very emotionally charged. Kirsten says she can do it.

Maggie tells Kirsten the stitchers program is highly confidential and no one can know. Kirsten nods then says she’s out and leaves. Maggie tells Cameron to deal with this and he goes after her. Kirsten is on the street corner and tells Cameron they have to find the blue door. She says she can do this faster. She says she’s asking him to trust her. She says lives are at stake. He agrees and asks what’s her plan. She goes to Camille’s who says she was about to burn her stuff.

Kirsten says she needs her help to stop a bomber. She tells Camille they work for a secret organization and she reads memories. She says the trained monkeys can’t find the other bombs and needs Camille’s help. Kirsten says she doesn’t have a lot of time and tells her about the blue door on Sepulveda. She says she can change four lines of code to make facial recognition search for doors instead. Camille asks them to be seated. They go to work.

Camille asks if she changed the code correctly. She did. Kirsten says she saw it. Camille wonders what if it was a placeholder for non-visual information. Cameron suggest Occham’s Razor. He googles blue door and Sepulveda. The company name is Blue Door. They see a photo of Jane Pica, Dean of the UC Santa Monica. There’s a news story about Applied Holographics. They look for Jane Pica’s address. Cameron and Kirsten head there and she hops out of the car.

She intercepts Jane and stops her from going inside. The house blows up. Kirsten, Cameron and Jane are all knocked back. Jane says no one was home. Kirsten asks about the other guy from the funeral. Cameron says she stole Julie’s research and says that’s why Brandt killed her. She says Fred Castellano is the other guy and he’s at UC. She asks who they are and they say friends of Julie. Looks like Fred siphoned Julie’s research and stole it.

Cameron pulls the fire alarm at the science building and then Kirsten gets a flash and says the bomb is in the basement. They head downstairs. They hear Fred yelling for help. He’s strapped to a giant bomb made of two 50 pound drums. Kirsten pulls the duct tape off and says they’re going to get him off. He says it’s a mercury tumbler switch and if it moves, the bomb will detonate. He says he’s been there two days sitting so still. Fred says he doesn’t deserve to live.

Kirsten tells Cameron to leave but he says not without her. Kirsten says he’s smart and can figure this out but he asks her about the cell tones she heard in the stitch. She goes back inside her head and touches Julie again. She slows her recall down and says it’s a cell phone. She takes Cameron’s and says it’s 58543 after playing for a second. She touches the bomb and enters that code. It shuts off. Cameron and Fred are stunned. The latter just bawls.

Kirsten wipes a tear off her face and is surprised. Detective Fisher is there but Kirsten tells him they’re the good guys. Outside he asks Kirsten what happens. She says they were studying and heard the noise then went down, saw the bomb and diffused it. Fisher goes to arrest them but Maggie is there and tells him no way then hauls them off. She says the agency is thinking of yanking their funding and Kirsten says that’s not a bad idea. It was a success.
