“The Young and the Restless” spoilers tease that Victor’s (Eric Braeden) plan to take down Jack (Peter Bergman) is set to move forward. Victor has been at war with Jack for decades and it makes sense that he’d want Jack to be stripped of everything. However, there’s someone else involved in the scheme and Victor’s been giving him or her updates in the confessional. The question is: who else would benefit from the plot to destroy Jack? There are a lot of ideas out there, but the latest “Young and the Restless” theory points to Maureen Russell (Meredith Baxter).
Maureen is Kelly’s (Cady McClain) mother so perhaps her partnership with Victor is a way of making amends. It’s possible that Maureen is trying to help Kelly get Jack back. Then again, we have to remember that this is not a woman who typically put her children’s best interests above her own. For example, Maureen was willing to let her teenage son take the rap for a murder she committed. When Victoria (Amelia Heinle) later found out that Maureen killed her husband, she threatened to expose the truth to clear Ben’s (Sean Carrigan) name. Maureen panicked and locked a very pregnant Victoria in an underground closet at Jabot. Victoria spent hours in labor before she was found.
Meanwhile, Maureen was busy having a heart attack. (Apparently, trapping someone in a closet can get pretty stressful.) When Maureen woke up in the hospital, Victor arrived to let her know she’d pay for hurting Victoria. Since Maureen was Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) drinking buddy, she started to tell Victor that Nikki had been knocking them back. Nikki interrupted and paid Maureen to leave town a short time later.
Bottom line, Maureen still owes Victor for locking his daughter up and maybe this is her way of paying her debts. After all, the agreement seems mutually beneficial. Victor gets to destroy Jack, Kelly gets Jack back, Maureen reconnects with her daughter and finally gets in Victor’s good graces. Everybody wins…well, except for Jack. It sounds like a plausible theory that could be a fun twist for “The Young and the Restless” viewers. We’ll let you know if any new Y&R rumors emerge on who’s been occupying the confessional.
