The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Nick’s New Challenge - Will He Consider A Career In Politics?

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will soon find himself taking on a new challenge. As Y&R viewers know, Nick has held several positions over the years. Most recently, he started Dark Horse as a competitor company to Newman Enterprises, then lost it to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). However, Nick ended up bouncing right back and restarting New Hope, his housing development company with Devon Hamilton (Bryton James).

Recently, Devon and Nick opened their first New Hope building, which brought with it some fanfare and a speaking opportunity at the celebration after the ribbon-cutting event. At the time, Devon noted that Nick seemed to be quite comfortable with his role in schmoozing. Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) noticed it, too, and she commented that perhaps Nick would make a good politician. Devon wholeheartedly agreed.

Nick also made a quite-eloquent off-the-cuff speech in front of the press, and we couldn’t help but notice that he knows pretty much everyone in Genoa City and is able to basically talk his way through any situation – another point that was made quite clear on a recent episode. So, are TPTB setting Nick up for a new career…possibly as a politician?

There is another clue that perhaps someone in Genoa City will be getting involved in politics. Y&R has recently cast actress Gillian White as a politician on the show, and this character will be interacting with someone in Genoa City soon. She is currently scheduled to appear on Monday, October 28th – we’ll see if she ends up interacting with Nick or if this is someone who perhaps inspires him or challenges him within the political realm.

Getting involved in Genoa City politics would certainly be a new challenge for Nick and would be something very different than he’s done in the past. But would it even be possible, given some of the things he’s done in the past? We can’t help but think of his impersonation of JT Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) from several months ago, and the video of him unmasking himself in front of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). That got some bad press, and it would certainly qualify as something that a political opponent might use against him.

It will be interesting to see whether Nick starts to get interested in a possible political career as the weeks go by. So far, he’s shut down Devon’s suggestion that he should enter politics, but you never know – he could become Councilman Newman (or the like) sometime down the road!
