General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) relationship may be put to the test. GH fans know this couple’s already been dealing with a lot, but more problems are on the way. Will Sonny and Carly’s marriage survive the terrible blows ahead?
For starters, we should talk about Sonny’s upcoming grief over Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) death. Sonny’s been having a rough time as he prepares to say goodbye, so it’s easy to see how hard this demise will hit him. Once Mike’s gone and Sonny has to face life without his father, he’s bound to feel a bit lost.
Will Sonny lean on his loved ones during this period of mourning or try to tackle his issues alone? That could be a crucial factor in how this affects Sonny and Carly’s romance. Carly will certainly be there for Sonny if he’ll let her. Unfortunately, grief doesn’t always work like that.
Sometimes it’s easier to push people away and pretend everything’s fine when it’s not, which might be what Sonny decides to do. That could frustrate Carly, who’ll only want to help Sonny get through this crisis.
Instead of letting Carly help, Sonny might concentrate on taking down Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober). That could present even more problems for “CarSon.” Sonny could get bolder and perhaps even a bit reckless following this loss. Since Sonny blames Cyrus for causing Mike to miss out on the experimental trial, it could fuel his fight to take down Cyrus ASAP.
Sonny also feels like that shootout in Brooklyn was the beginning of the end for his dad. It was a brutal ordeal for Mike, who was already declining. Cyrus took a bad situation and made it worse, so bringing Cyrus down quickly may become Sonny’s priority.
Of course, that could mean taking too many chances and putting the rest of the family at risk. That’s definitely the kind of thing Carly would have a big issue with. It could fracture their marriage, especially if one of the kids gets hurt or comes dangerously close to it.
There’s also this custody battle with Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) to consider. Since Nelle could easily wind up with joint or full custody, that could bring some fighting about how to handle this threat to Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson).
When you add up all their problems, General Hospital writers have the perfect storm for a “CarSon” split. If that’s how they want to take this story, it’d be simple to put Carly back with Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher).
GH already laid the groundwork when Ava Jerome (Maura West) warned Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) about Carly always coming first in Jax’s life.
