General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that one ABC soap star is opening up about some trauma in her past and the costar who finally helped her deal with it. In an interview with Michael Fairman, Chloe Lanier (Nelle Benson Jerome) spoke out about some mental health issues that she addressed with the help of Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves). It’s clear that Lanier’s thankful to Watros for giving her the support she needed.
“Cynthia is one of the kindest human beings I’ve ever met, truly,” Lanier said. “We haven’t known each other for long, but earlier this year, and not many people know this other than my close friends, I was having glaring mental health issues stemming from unresolved trauma. I was going going going for so long that I couldn’t run away from it anymore. I had never dealt with any of it.”
It was Watros who realized Lanier might be fighting a hidden battle, so she took action and sparked a big change for Lanier. “She saw it and could tell I was silently struggling and reached out,” Lanier said. “You don’t forget kindness like that. So I’m very grateful for Cynthia—and of course, therapy.”
Nelle’s a character who’s faced her own unique trauma, so Lanier enjoyed exploring that a bit in confrontations between Nelle and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). She believes Nelle does love her son in her own twisted way and is hopeful about Nelle getting some help for her issues if she’s alive.
Of course, GH fans know Nelle fell after Carly lost her grip at the cliff’s edge. That was a massive drop, but no body’s been found. It seems likely Nelle will come back and give Carly quite a shock down the road.
Since Carly and Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) covered up what actually happened, they could land in some hot water.
Since Nelle’s the owner of the other pendant half, Nina should uncover proof that Nelle’s her long-lost child and perhaps set up a reunion someday. Lanier certainly appreciates having Watros as a supportive General Hospital costar, so she’d be “flattered” if Nelle indeed turns out to be Nina’s daughter.
