Tonight’s American Idol episode begins with Iam Tongi from Kahuku, Hawaii, we hear him singing, his audition has been viewed 115 million times. It is Lionel’s sixth season of American Idol and he thinks the is an amazing season. Every year the show evolves.

It is the last day of finding talent, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan are behind the judges desk and Ryan Seacrest is ready to introduce more hopefuls.

Kaeyra is 21 years old from Algonquin, IL, her mom is a piano teacher and taught her so much. She is going to play piano for her audition, she is singing, “Cold” by Chris Stapleton. This is not her first time to audition, she also auditioned for AGT in 2018.

Luke says he wasn’t expecting that, she doesn’t sound like anyone else. Katy says she has this vibrato that is really cool and the universe put her in the right place at the right time. Lionel would like to see that moody voice with the right song, she would be like Miley Cyrus. It is three yes votes from the judges, she is going to Hollywood.

Elise Kristine is 18 years old from Issaquah, WZ, hs has not sung since she was three years old. She is singing “You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman,” by Queen.

Katy says she is the next big thing. She gets three yes votes to go to Hollywood, she sings like a pro.

Sarah Mac is 24 years old from Carrollton, GA, she is singing with her boyfriend playing the guitar. They play in bars. She is singing, “Stone Cold,” by Demi Lovato.

The attitude, the look, the confidence, everything good. She gets three yes votes to go to Hollywood.

Jayna Elise is 22 years old from Washington, DC and after high school she joined her grandfather’s band. She is singing “Who Wants To Live Forever.” By Queen.

Lionel says you can’t teach stage presence. She gets three yes votes to go to Hollywood.

Nate Peck is 21 years old and he has a love for the 80’s, and has a mullet. He fronts a band called Wanted, they do a lot of shows in the Detroit area. He is singing, “Lightning Strikes Again,” by Dokken.

Luke just wants to start putting quarters in the juke box. Lionel says that was brilliant. Lionel says he is the best rock singer that they have had, he loves his interpretation, he’s got it. They are all happy, Lionel wants a front row seat to his next performance. It is three yes votes, he is going to Hollywood.

Mikenley Brown is 17 years old from New Castle, IN. She has had a hard time with bullying, she went through a hard time with not eating. She was in and out of hospitals for a long time, one doctor told her she was going to die. Her dad is with her, and he says she had to find her voice, and herself within. She is singing “Love On The Brain,” by Rihanna.

Lionel says that was great. Luke says she has a thing, it is not like she thinks when she sings, she was born to do this. Katy says our value comes from deep inside, and she is glad that she found it. It’s three yes votes to Hollywood.

Isaac Brown is 21 years old from Los Angeles, CA. He is singing “Golden Hour,” by JVKE and Essence by WizKid.

Katy says they finally got some suace in New Orleans. Lionel loves it, says his voice is smooth and rythmic and he knows how to perform. Luke says there are a couple things in his voice the has a crazy amount of potential and he could be a big star. Katy calls him Izzy-B and says he is fun and it is so necessary in such a dark world. The votes, he is going to Hollywood.

Cam Amen is 27 years old from Omaha, NE. He has had a hard life, in and out of foster care. He raised his brother and sister on his own. He never never thought he would make it to this point. He is singing, “Hallelujah,” by Leonard Cohen.

A standing ovation from the judges and hey get up and hug him, everyone is crying. Lionel says he has been through a lot but the rest of his life is ahead of him. Luke says he can hardly breathe, his style is unique, there is nobody he can compare him to, it was incredible. Katy says he had to sacrifice, now he can let it out. Lionel says divine guidance brought him to them, and they are going to have one heck of a ride. Luke tells him to bring his girlfriend in, and he is the best soul singer they have ever had on the show. Luke talks about the platinum ticket for people who are a little more special and he has earned the right to it. It is a yes, and he is getting the platinum ticket, he gets to sit out the first week while everyone else is sweating it out.

Sierra Harris is 12 years old from Lexington, MA and she is a personal trainer. She says she has a trailer park mouth, she is a tough cookie. She is going to sing, “Barracuda” by Heart. Katy asks her to sing, “Firework.”

Katy tells her that she stayed her song and it is a difficult one to sing. Lionel tells her she can sing well. It is three yes votes to Hollywood.

Phil Kane is 18 years old from Pawhuska, OK and he studies song writing in University. He is singing, “Osage County,” by Phil Kane.

A standing ovation, Luke calls him Country Jackson Browne. Katy says the choices on the piano gave her chills and she believed every single word. Lionel says he checks all the boxes on song writing, dead on the money, brilliant. Luke says people got it and some don’t, he’s got it. All three judges are a yes, he is going to Hollywood.

Fire Wilmore is back, the judges asked her to come back and try again. She went and sang song all day and every day to practice. She is ready to throw out the doubt and just go for it. Katy tells her she looks lighter and brighter. She is going to sing, “Love In The Dark,” by Adele.

All the judges clap and say it was pretty. Luke says big props, he was pulling for her so much. She took a hard lick on her first time around, she has a great tone, but he is not sure. Luke is also not sure, but she has come back with a completely different mind set – he believes she has to go through. Katy says she has lived a lot of her life in protection mode, she just needs to open up. Lionel says she has promise, it is yes. Luke wants to see what kind of butterfly she turns in to. Katy can’t wait to see her full potential, she is going to Hollywood.

Kaya Stewart is 22 years old from West Hollywood, CA. She is singing, “This Tatoo” that she wrote with her dad, Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics who is there with her and playing the guitar.

Lionel says it was great, the songwriting, he gives her so much props. In the midst of all of it, she stayed it, she is an artist. Luke says she is worthy of jumping in the mix of all this. Katy loves the flip in her voice. Three yes votes, she is going to Hollywood. The last person to audition for

American Idol season 21 is Oliver Steele, 25 years old from Mount Juliet, TN. He is singing “In My Life,” by the Beatles. His father was a professional guitar player and is his influence, especially in blues. Anytime he would pick up a guitar was amazing. He had a stroke that has severely affected the left side of his body.

Katy says he is good but he needs to stay smiling it. Lionel says his dad should be very proud of him, he asks him to bring his dad in. HIs father gets out of his wheelchair and hugs his son. Oliver sings it, with all the judges smiling and full of emotion. There are tears in everyone’s eyes, everyone joins in.

Lionel gets up and hugs Oliver’s dad, and gives a yes. Katy and Luke are also a yes. Oliver is going to Hollywood, and Lionel tells him to take his dad with him.
