Rory Gibson, formerly Noah Newman on The Young and the Restless (Y&R) is joining the General Hospital (GH) cast as Michael Corinthos. The news arrived this week, some time after Chad Duell took a break. Rory has a 3 year contract with GH! ABC fans reacted to the news on social media. Read on to find out what they think about it.
Confirming His Appearance
What started out as a whisper became big news about the ABC show. Later, Rory Gibson confirmed it when he shared an article about it on Instagram. Gibson didn’t write a caption, but he did post three fistbump emojis.
While the new Michael Corinthos didn’t have much to say, his fans and colleagues certainly did. Lauralee Bell was one of the first to comment. She wrote, “Sooo happy for you!!”
Meanwhile, Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson) on Y&R said, “Yay Rory!!” Then former GH star Michelle Stafford, who is now on The Young and the Restless as Phyllis Summers, shared a row of clapping hands and red heart emojis.
Fans React To Rory
Daytime drama fans were so excited that Rory revived the character of Michael Corinthos, who upset fans when he appeared in a nasty fire on the show. Chad Duell isn’t returning the show. One of them wrote, “Can’t wait to see you take on the role of Michael. His presence has been missed & needed in Port Charles!”

Who Is The TV Star?
Some people hadn’t ever heard of Rory Gibson before, but they were willing to give him a chance in his new role. According to IMDb, he was born and raised in California and moved to LA to start acting in 2018. “He’s known for his roles in Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire (2023) and the upcoming Fugitive from Asteron.”
Movie buffs also saw him in A Night to Regret, Grace, Twisted Twin, and Severed Road. Some of these were short films, but they helped to flesh out his resume. Soap Opera Digest reported in 2022 that Gibson is the son of a former professional footballer who passed away.
He and Alicia Ruelas became engaged in 2022 and were spotted together at the premiere of Rebel Moon in December 2023.
