“General Hospital” (GH) spoilers reveal that Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) will soon get the new romance fans were promised when she inked her three-year contract at GH. But rather than being with a new guy, we’ll see her in a romance with a beloved character we see too little of – Dr Kevin Collins (Jon Lindström).
Jamey Giddens at Daytime Confidential hints that Laura’s new love is a doctor who is the ex-husband of “another beloved veteran character.” That’s easy enough to puzzle out. How many older male doctors are there on staff at GH – aside from the horrid Dr Mayes (Matt Riedy)?
And when you combine that with being the ex of a veteran, that’s clearly Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and Kevin that we’re talking about. We haven’t seen Dr Kevin since he helped out Jake Spencer (James Nigbor) and counseled Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) on her own mental health.
We know Laura will continue to pursue the strange book with the cryptic message left to her by the evil Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and other GH spoilers reveal that Laura will figure out the message soon and it will send her in a new direction – could that put her in Kevin’s path?
What’s also interesting about GH showrunners brining back Kevin is that he had a history with the vampiric Caleb Morley (Michael Easton) – as did Lucy – and now Easton is back at the hospital. It should be fun to see Kevin’s reaction to Dr Hamilton Finn wearing the bad guy’s face.
Kevin is a solid choice of companion for Laura since she has mental health issues that crop up occasionally and he’s a shrink. They are also age appropriate, share many of the same friends, and both are currently single after their most recent divorces.
So how do Kevin and Laura hook up? Does Laura run into Kevin while looking for answers about the puzzling clues Helena left her? Will Kevin take off with Laura to chase down the answers she needs? However the writers work Kevin back into the storyline, it’s a treat to have Jon Lindström back at General Hospital.
GH showrunners have promised a return to more hospital centric storylines and we’ve seen that come to fruition with more medical cases and new doctors on the scene with Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) and Hamilton Finn.
But it’s also nice to see that General Hospital writers are tapping legacy characters like Monica Quartermaine and now veteran character Kevin Collins. We’re excited to see Laura finally get new love in her life – let’s hope this one is less complicated than her past romances…
