Teen Wolf RECAP 6/17/13: Season 3 Episode 3 “Fireflies”

Teen Wolf RECAP 6/17/13: Season 3 Episode 3 “Fireflies”

Tonight on MTV the popular show TEEN WOLF continues with its third episode of the third season called, “Fireflies.” On tonight’s show Scott and Derek seek help from an unlikely ally. Did you watch last week’s episode? We did and we recapped it here for you.

On last week’s show Lydia and Allison were getting closer to finding Boyd and Erica. Also one of Stiles’ childhood friends went missing. Since we’ve been teased about there being a lot of deaths this season — I’d say it is entirely possible that Stiles’ friend is a little more than just missing. So a couple things we want to know . . . . Is Erica dead or alive? Is Ms. Morell really a bad person?  How about you, what questions do you have?

On tonight’s show someone is supposed to die and a photo released of a hand dripping in blood with a purity ring is suppose to be a clue to who it is.  Who do you think is going to be killed tonight?  Our guess is Erica.  Also on tonight’s show Scott and Derek seek help from an unlikely ally.

Tonight’s season 3 episode 3 is going to be an exciting one that you won’t want to miss, so be sure to tune in for our live coverage of MTV’s Teen Wolf tonight at 10 PM EST! While you wait for our recap hit the comments and let us know what you think of Teen Wolf season 3 this year. Check out the sneak peek video of tonight’s show below, while you wait for the recap!

LIVE recap starts now:

The show opens up with a field of fireflies descending in a grove of trees. A boy and a girl are trying to catch the lightning bugs. He catches one, jars it, but then lets it go. He’s scared by a mysterious, growling figure in the darkness. It’s a werewolf, and it appears to be Boyd. The two children run and hide, but the werewolf hunts them. A swarm of fireflies attacks Boyd and the kids get away. Scott makes a phone call to Derek. Before the intro montage, we see that Scott actually saved the kids from Boyd.

Lydia is in bed and, after seeing that she’s out of pills, rushes to the store. Last episode, we saw her scream like a lunatic right after things started getting hairy. She tells her mom that she’s leaving. She starts to think she’s crazy — but is she?

Derek says that Boyd and Erica will kill everyone and anyone they come across.

Lydia arrives at a pool instead of going to the store to get a new bottle of pills. She notices someone floating in the pool. She approaches the floating figure, muttering to herself, “Please don’t be dead. Please don’t be dead. Please don’t be dead.” She turns over the “body” and sees that it’s a mannequin. After flipping over the dummy, she notices there’s blood on her hands. She looks up. There’s a VERY dead guy sitting in the lifeguard chair.

Allison is reflecting in the car. She has a memory involving Scott. Back in the bank vault, he told her what he was keeping from her — that her mother tried to kill him. “Why did you keep it from me?” she asked. He said because he couldn’t have that be the last memory she had of her.

Meanwhile, two girls are making out in a tent. A swarm of bugs attack their tent. One of the girls run out of the tent. Cora jumps onto the scene, as does Isaac, who begins fighting her. Derek and Scott arrive as well. Eventually, they chase her off.

Stiles arrives on the scene with Lydia. The kid who died at the pool was wearing a purity ring. His throat was ripped out. Scott, Derek, and Isaac mull over ideas on what they’re going to do . . . . Derek doesn’t understand how they’re moving so fast. He doesn’t want to kill them, but Isaac muses, “What if that’s the only thing to do?” Scott says it’s the wrong thing to do and that perhaps they should enlist the help of someone who knows  how to hunt werewolves. Oh Alissssssooooon’s Dadddddyyy, we need UR help PLZ.

Stiles dad is called to help the girl in the words, who we learn to be Caitlin. She tells him that she saw a girl with glowing eyes.

Scott seeks Allison’s father’s help. He says, Why would I help you when your world decimated mine? Scott asks him for a favor then, and together they drive away. Cunningly, he makes him drive by the crime scene of the boy who died at the pool. He’s immediately reeled into the chase and agrees to help catch them — without killing them.

Meanwhile, we see Allison getting all huntress on us. She’s trying to attract Boyd and Cora herself.

Mr. Argent says maybe, if they can’t catch them, they just need to contain them. So he suggests containing them in the school, which, supposedly, is empty. Before the commercial break, we see the new English teacher chilling in her classroom. She’s either going to play a big part in helping them or she’s going to die real bad. But she can’t die, right?

Mr. Argent begins planting ultrasonic frequencies around in the woods, to lead Boyd and Cora to the school.

Stiles takes Lydia home and follows her into her room. She asks him, “Aren’t you going to ask me the question you’ve been dying to ask me for a while now?” He doesn’t say anything. She answers her own question: “Are you going to ask me how I found that body?” She says she doesn’t know. The last time she underwent something like that was when Derek’s uncle was involved with things . . . .

Meanwhile, Peter, Derek’s uncle, sees Derek hunting Boyd and Cora. Peter tries to persuade his nephew to not worry about fixing this problem, that it’s all for naught. He says they live in shades of grey.

Scott’s mom calls Stiles into the hospital to show him the lifeguard body. She says that she doesn’t think he died by the hand of a werewolf. She shows him a series of injuries — a strangle to the neck and a blunt force trauma to the back of the head Either of these injuries could have been the cause of death. They come to the conclusion that Boyd and Cora, most likely, didn’t kill the kid. So who did? They don’t know. But it turns out there’s another body in the morgue that has the EXACT same injuries.

Isaac and Scott break into the school. Scott meets up with Mr. Argent. Mr. Argent notices a firefly — like the kind we saw in the beginning of the episode. He’s intrigued. He tells Scott that the California Fireflies aren’t bioluminescent — they don’t glow. Scott asks if that’s supposed to mean something.

Meanwhile in the hospital, Scott’s mother and Stiles begin to piece things together. She shows him the other body: it’s Heather, his friend. Turns out that both victims were virgins. Stiles asks to see Caitlin, the girl who was with her girlfriend in camping in the woods. her friend got away.

back in the school, they’re having a tough time trying to contain Boyd and Cora. Allison shows up and begins helping. Derek and Scott seem to successfully get them trapped in the boiler room. So far so good . . . . but . . . . Scott begins to hear heart beats. Three of them. Not just two. We see the English teacher getting paper. She yells, is someone there?

Stiles goes to talk to the girl who was attacked in the woods. She proves his suspicions: they were out in the words because they wanted to have a romantic evening for their “first time.” Whoever this killer is after appears to be after virgins.

Derek goes into the boiler room. He is attacked by Boyd and Cora. They attack him viciously . . . . and it doesn’t look good for him. The sun comes up. Scott runs into the boiler room. We see that Derek has survived and killed Boyd and Cora, his sister. He goes into save the teacher, who’s cowering int he corner. They smile at each other. Future lovebirds!

They find the other girl in the woods. Stiles tells Scott that these people are dying the “three fold death.” Throat slashed. Strangled. Head bashed in. People are being sacrificed. WHY? FOR WHAT CAUSE? Is a werewolf doing it? Yikes! We can’t wait to tune into next week’s episode!
