Bobbi Kristina Brown, 21, has shows signs of improvement with greater brain activity and has been transferred to another medical facility in Atlanta, Georgia, after being found face-down in a tubful of water on Saturday. Her husband, Nick Gordon, and a friend determined she was unresponsive and called 911 before starting CPR. Once at the hospital, she was hooked up to a ventilator and reportedly placed in a medically induced coma to reduce brain swelling. In other words, things didn’t look good. It was undoubtedly a blow to the family, especially since Bobbi’s mother, the late Whitney Houston, died in a similar fashion in February of 2012. Some sources even stated that her father, Bobby Brown, had been told to start thinking about funeral arrangements. However, there now seems to be a bit of hope for the young woman.
According the TMZ, when doctors assessed Bobbi’s brain activity on Monday morning, they saw a few positive signs. She had a minimal response to one of their tests, which was an improvement over her condition yesterday. Still, Bobbi’s got a long road ahead of her. If she does wake up, it’s difficult to say how much of her brain she’ll be able to use. She was likely without oxygen for several minutes and that usually leads to significantly diminished brain function. For now, Bobbi’s family is clinging to the possibility that she could survive.
The Roswell Police Department is still investigating what happened at Bobbi’s home just north of Atlanta. A search warrant was issued and no drugs were found at the scene. However, the similarities between Whitney’s demise and Bobbi’s incident may be more than just a coincidence. Whitney’s cause of death was accidental drowning with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors. Many are wondering if Bobbi was trying to leave her troubled past behind by attempting suicide.
