Sam is eager to work but unfortunately nobody wants to hire her because her stint in rehab. She is in the car with her agent, Sid, who tells her there is this one job but if she blows it she is done.

Sid goes to see Eddie and tells him there is this role that she wants to put Sam in and she wants him to train her as a P.I. so she is good, the studio will even pay him for his time. When Eddie is against it, Sid reminds him that he owes her a favour. Sam walks in and Sid goes to leave but first she whispers in Eddie’s ear to try not to sleep with Sam too.

Eddie has a potential client, Sam wants to join him and she reminds him that Sid said full access. Eddie gives in but tells her that she better say nothing, be invisible.

Eddie introduces himself to his client, Mr. Raney, and so does Sam. The client is there because he suspects his daughter may have been murdered, her name is Linette and she was in LA to interview for media companies and she never made her flight home. And, he has her cell phone, something she never leaves behind. Sam really gets involved in the conversation.

The client leaves and Eddie tells Sam off for promising to find Linette. Eddie tells his assistant Berto, to unlock Linette’s phone and do a social media search on her.

Eddie and Sam head to the apartment where Linette was staying to interview the guy she rented it from. Sam watches the guy and she tells Eddie that from his body language she thinks he is hiding something. They search the room and they find a teddy bear that has a camera, the guy was filming her. Eddie and Sam watch a video and they see Linette calling an escort service.

Eddie and Sam head to the escort place and Linette was there the previous week and she wasn’t looking for a job she was looking for Ricky Jenson, local muscle that sometimes protects the girls. Sam is surprised, what would a straight A student want with a local LA thug.

Eddie and Sam go to Ricky’s apartment and find him dead. Christine arrives on the scene and tells Eddie that the victim has a rap sheet a mile long and he worked for Deacon, he should get Sam away from this case.

Meanwhile, Nick and Sam are looking at the victim when Eddie pulls her out of the room and goes to take her home. In the car, Eddie tells Sam that Deacon is involved and he is very dangerous.

Back at the office, Sam tells Eddie and Berto that Linette and Ricky were high school sweethearts, he had a tattoo in a heart with both their initials. Linette’s phone was reset, but there is a text message to meet someone at the pier. Eddie text messages and sets the person up so that he can meet them and find out who was going to meet her. Eddie thinks Linette met this guy after she found Ricky dead because she was purchasing a burner phone and a gun, Sam thinks she is going to go after Ricky’s murderer. Sam tells Eddie she has a contact in Homeland Security from her old show and he can trace the burner phone, he does and they head to the location.

They head inside a building and they find Linette, but she has a gun on them. Linette recognizes Sam and puts down the gun. Linette says that Ricky was working for Deacon and tried to unmask him, Ricky had the combination to his safe where there are documents that could put Deacon away. Sam says that they need to call the police, Linette says Deacon owns the police. Sam says what about her family, her dad is looking for her. Linette says that is impossible her dad is dead. All of sudden shots go off and Eddie says oh no, they led them there. The three make a run for it and get out safe. They stop the car and Linette gets out and says she is leaving. Sid calls Sam and tells her the movie deal is dead, Eddie says great after all this he doesn’t even get paid.

Sid meets Sam at a bar and Sam tells her how she is upset because she was loving that she was helping Linette.

Sam goes to Eddie;s apartment and he answers the door shirtless and Sam sees Christine putting her clothes on in the background. Sam tells Eddie that she thinks Deacon is a cop, Eddie says he thinks the same thing but there is no client anymore since Linette doesn’t have a father.

Back at the office, they find all the cases Ricky was looking into and they have found their guy, the only thing is, he is a superior court judge, his name is Noah Cambers. Sam notices on his website that he is running for re-election and having a fund raiser the following night at his house. Sam wears a disguise and gets herself in the house, she makes her way to the basement, hits a guard on the head with a bottle and lets Eddie in the house. They get into the safe and Linette is there, gagged in a closet. All of a sudden, Linette’s fake dad comes in with a gun – Eddie distracts him and Sam kicks the gun on the floor to his head and Eddie is able to get his gun away from him. Christine arrives on the scene, Deacon is arrested, Linette is saved. Deacon tells Eddie that he just got on his Christmas list. Eddie says goodbye to Sam and she calls after him, she is riding with him.

The next day Eddie is at the office, it is full of potential clients and they don’t want to see him, they want Sam. Eddie calls Sam.
