Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton) will be sticking around Salem for a while. In some personal message videos for DOOL fans, Dattilo confirmed there’s a long-term return plan for Lucas on Days. “I’ll be on for a pretty good run this time,” Dattilo said on Cameo. “I think I got like a year or two.”
Of course, Days hasn’t been renewed that far out yet, so it’s important to take things one step at a time here. However, Dattilo’s comments do mean the show’s committed to Lucas and giving him a story. There’s obviously a vision for this character and his extended comeback in Salem.
It makes sense that Days of Our Lives intends to keep Lucas as part of the canvas – especially since Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) will film more scenes to air starting in late 2020. Sami’s current stint will wrap up around the end of September, but she’ll return and will be around for most of 2021.
Sami’s storyline will center around Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) and all the family drama swirling around her. No doubt Sami will cause a good chunk of that drama! With Lucas around, he can try to keep Sami from spiraling out of control – if that’s even possible!
Nevertheless, Lucas has known Sami long enough to “get” her, so he’s pretty good a putting out Sami fires when the need arises. Lucas is also Allie’s dad and a grandpa to her baby boy. That makes Lucas a crucial part of the family and carves him out a nice spot in this storyline.
Lucas also plays well off his mom, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow), in their scenes together. Kate and Lucas have become quite the comedic duo lately! Since Lucas will plant Salem roots for a while, maybe he could even find love again – whether that be with Sami, another ex or someone new.
