Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that the NBC soap still has some questions left to answer. Days fans know Jake Lambert (Brandon Barash) was declared Stefan DiMera’s (Brandon Barash) twin, but there’s no proof of that.
A lot of assumptions were made following that DNA test and Ivan Marais’ (Ivan G’Vera) revelation about Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) having another baby.
However, those assumptions may not necessarily be true. Let’s look at the facts here. Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay) admitted that although he didn’t bring Stefan back to life, someone else might’ve.
Jake’s DNA was a match for Stefan, but Ivan later dropped the twin bomb. Since Jake has a lifetime of other memories and was adopted, everyone assumed he was Stefan’s brother instead of Stefan himself.
How can we really know that though? Especially since Dr. Rolf suggested someone else might’ve revived Stefan? Of course, we now know Gwen Rizchech (Emily O’Brien) – Jake’s girlfriend until recently – is working with Dr. Rolf, the master of bringing people back from the dead.
Doesn’t that seem a little suspicious to you? Gwen showed up with a guy who turned out to be a DiMera – all while working with the longtime doc of the DiMera family.
Gwen’s also targeting Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller), has cozied up to Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) and is quite keen on living at the DiMera mansion. DiMera, DiMera, DiMera… That’s the theme we’re seeing here.
If someone else brought Stefan back to life as Dr. Rolf heavily implied, it could easily have been Gwen. The question is: Why? Gwen has seemed genuinely crazy about Jake throughout her story. It may have been an act, but it certainly didn’t feel like one.
In fact, Gwen was downright obsessed with Jake until not too long ago. It was more of a fixation that love – and that could be important. What if something happened to the real Jake Lambert – something that led to a grim fate? Gwen might’ve been desperate to get dead Jake back any way she could.
Let’s say Jake and Stefan were both seriously injured around the same time. Dr. Rolf was adamant that Stefan was too far gone and couldn’t be saved, but what if it was actually Jake who had injuries he couldn’t come back from?
Since Gwen was completely obsessed with Jake, she would’ve had a motive to make a switch and try memory manipulation.
In other words, Gwen might’ve injected Stefan to save him and then let Dr. Rolf manipulate his memories to make Stefan believe he’s Jake. Stefan may have had a microchip implanted like Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) had when she was “Princess Gina Von Amberg.” This could be Stefan with a Jake chip in.
Gwen probably wouldn’t care that it wasn’t the real Jake as long as she was getting a version of him. It would explain why the bond between Gabi and Jake was there from the get-go. Perhaps “Jake” has always been Stefan at his core!
Naturally, Gwen has no motive to reveal Jake is Stefan, even now that they’re broken up. Gwen would rather Jake remain a lonely nobody. Gwen certainly doesn’t want Gabi to have her husband back in the event Gabi resurfaces – and she indeed will down the road.
Furthermore, Gwen can’t reveal Jake’s true identity since it would expose what she did and blow her current Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) mission. It’s in Gwen’s best interest to keep her mouth shut, even though she’s no longer dating Jake.
Regardless, Gwen must’ve had her reasons for partnering up with Dr. Rolf. It seems significant that Rolf hinted about Stefan still being alive.
Days of Our Lives has a great opportunity to tie all this together and reveal that Jake is Stefan after all. That might be a DOOL shocker Gwen delivers once the Abigail jig is up.
