General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) is going to need a bargaining chip. Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) war with Cyrus has been steadily growing, so the conflict will bubble over at some point.
This has to be building to a major confrontation where Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) or even Sonny himself plans to take Cyrus out.
Sonny might want to do the honors himself since he hates Cyrus with a passion. It’s easy to imagine Cyrus making another dangerous move that pushes Sonny over the edge. Sonny might determine that enough is enough and finally just pull a gun on Cyrus.
Plenty of GH fans are wondering why Sonny hasn’t done it already! It can’t possibly be that hard to get a clear shot at Cyrus, so the fact that Sonny’s letting this war go on is the least believable part of this story.
Sonny needs to take charge and get the job done, so he might resolve to do that sooner or later.
However, that leaves General Hospital with a bit of a dilemma. Jeff Kober has been a great addition for the show and has actually stuck around longer than they initially intended for him to.
It’s clear that they like Kober’s work and would probably like to extend his stay as long as possible. Cyrus is an excellent villain, so there’s no need to rush him into an early grave.
With all that in mind, could Cyrus reveal some information that could save his life? We mentioned a bargaining chip, so let’s explore that idea.
Cyrus’ Achilles’ heel is his ill mother, Florence Gray, so Sonny needs a weak spot, too. It’s only fair for Cyrus to be able to push that same sentimental button and use it against Sonny.
What if Cyrus ultimately reveals his ace in the hole – a huge secret he’s saving for when the time is right and it’s absolutely necessary? We can think of the perfect shocker, especially now that General Hospital has been dropping major hints about the return of Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig).
Based on how heavy-handed the clues are, GH writers might as well have characters wave a neon sign that says Morgan’s coming back! They haven’t been subtle about it at all.
The biggest clue was when Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) talked about the questions she’d have if Morgan were alive – like where he’d been this whole time and why he’d just leave them suffering like that.
It seems obvious Joss will get answers to those questions eventually – and that may be where Cyrus comes in. Is there a chance Cyrus hired a search for Morgan and has him stashed somewhere?
If Cyrus fears death is imminent, that might be the ideal moment to reveal Morgan survived. Cyrus might insist that unless they work out a deal, Sonny will never get answers about his not-so-dead son.
It’s worth mentioning that Florence Gray may not necessarily be at the long-term care facility in Vermont. After all, Florence was previously at a house on Wilson Avenue, which suggests Cyrus wanted her protected somewhere private and comfortable.
Cyrus could’ve easily moved Florence to another house somewhere with all the care she needs.
Could there be another patient involved here – namely recovering Morgan Corinthos? Could Morgan be at a long-term care facility thanks to Cyrus? That’d be an interesting twist in this Sonny and Cyrus battle, which will definitely bring more bombshells soon.
