The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) engagement plans may be derailed. Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) can’t marry a man who’s building a family with Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway), so that could certainly become a big issue here.
Y&R fans know Amanda’s trying to be laidback and understanding when it comes to Devon’s role in Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor’s life. Amanda doesn’t see any reason to view Abby as a threat just yet, but things are about to change drastically.
It looks like Abby will receive the news of Chance Chancellor’s (last played by Donny Boaz) presumed death – and that should pave the way for Devon to fully embrace the father title.
Of course, Devon will also want to be there for Abby, who’ll be more than willing to accept his comfort.
Despite what could be growing feelings for Abby, Devon truly loves Amanda and will want to keep that romance moving along. Now that Devon and Amanda have moved in together, a marriage proposal is the next soapy step.
It may not be long until Devon decides to pop the question – maybe even as a way to ease any doubts that arise for Amanda down the road.
Amanda may sense that Devon’s pulling away and letting Abby lean on him more than ever. It could leave Amanda wondering if Abby’s the woman Devon actually wants to be with.
It’s easy to imagine Devon proposing to show Amanda he’s all in, but that may not be enough. Amanda certainly won’t want to make that kind of commitment to someone who’s building a family with somebody else.
It’d be different if Abby and Devon were strictly friends, but it seems like they’re on the verge of becoming more – and Amanda may sense that romantic shift as well. Will Amanda ultimately push Devon away and nix any marriage plans he might offer?
Amanda has always been a strong, independent person, so she may think she has to put her own heart first and protect it.
Amanda might also feel like Devon needs to pursue a happy family with Abby and Dominic if that’s on the table for all of them.
Whatever the case, a marriage proposal makes sense as the next step for Devon, but he may not get the answer he’s looking for if that plays out.
