The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Friday, May 21 Recap – Ashland Catches Tara – Kyle & Harrison Bond – Billy’s Phyllis Secret

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, May 21, reveals that Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will catch Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) going incognito while Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) bond. Meanwhile, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will have a secret that relates to his history with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).

In Kyle and Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) hotel suite, she’ll wake her fiancée up after a rough night. Kyle will acknowledge that he had some trouble sleeping due to all the drama.

Kyle’ll get that Summer’s worried about the consequences of claiming paternity, but he’ll insist on stepping up for Harrison since the boy needs his mom.

Kyle will note that a DNA test is on the to-do list, but he’ll want to tell Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) the news about Harrison first.

After Summer leaves on Friday’s Y&R episode, Tara will show up to talk with Kyle again. She’ll feel confident that Kyle will have the upper hand in a custody battle as the bio dad.

When Kyle wonders if Ashland might lose interest when he finds out Harrison isn’t his kid, Tara won’t think so. She’ll admit Ashland really does love Harrison – and she won’t like the thought of him walking away anyway since it’d be hard on Harrison.

Kyle will feel like it’d be good if he spent some time with Harrison to prepare him for what’s ahead. Since Tara will want to go out and pick up a few things for Harrison, she’ll suggest doing it now. Tara will return dressed in all black with a hat on and will reassure Kyle.

As Harrison munches on crackers and plays with his stuffed animal, Tara will point out that the nanny is right in the other room. She’ll note that Harrison only has to stay as long as it’s comfortable for both of them.

Once Kyle’s alone with Harrison, he’ll have an awkward yet sweet chat with him about having a similar stuffed animal and traveling with his silly mom as a kid, too.

Tara will pull her hat down as she gets off the elevator and tries not to get recognized. Of course, Ashland will be the very first person Tara runs into! After Ashland greets Tara by name, he’ll demand to see his son.

Tara will think they have things to talk about first, but Ashland will blast her for kidnapping Harrison and using him as a bargaining chip.

Phyllis will eventually intervene and throw Ashland out, but he’ll let Tara know he filed for divorce before he goes. Tara will thank Phyllis for the save, but she’ll insist she did it for her daughter, not Tara.

If Phyllis finds out Tara poses a threat to Summer in any way, she’ll warn that Tara won’t be able to count on her as an ally. Tara will think that makes sense because mothers will do anything to protect their children.

Phyllis will also notice Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) in the lobby looking at new places to live. She’ll hate to lose a guest, but Lily will think it’s time to move on. When Phyllis realizes Lily’s looking at a place on Chestnut, she’ll purr about how “fantastic” it was when she lived there.

After Billy runs into Jack at Crimson Lights, he’ll admit he’s getting a place with Lily. Jack will be surprised to learn they’re that serious, but Billy will argue that when it’s right, it’s right.

Afterward, Billy will meet up with Lily and find out she likes the building on Chestnut. Billy will seem a bit nervous as he starts to divulge something, but Lily will already know he used to live there with Phyllis.

Billy will suggest he didn’t want to cloud Lily’s judgment on the building, but she’ll think he left out relevant information.

Nevertheless, Billy will argue that it’ll be a different unit and he won’t be thinking about Phyllis memories in that building. He’ll satisfy Lily by suggesting a test-run picnic in the new unit to see if it feels right.

At Jabot, Summer will talk to Kyle over the phone and will get updates on his visit with Harrison. Kyle will talk about how the meeting was pretty easy and natural, so Summer will suggest they seemed to have hit it off.

Summer will remain uneasy about the situation – especially when Kyle brings up the idea of Tara and Harrison staying at the Abbott mansion.

Summer will note that it’s an option, but she’ll think Kyle’s getting ahead of himself since he still has to tell Jack he has a grandson. Kyle will think he can spring it all on Jack at once, but Summer will wonder if he really thinks that’s a good idea.

When Jack walks in, Summer will greet him to let Kyle know his dad just entered the room. Kyle will promise to talk to Jack soon, so Summer will hang up and face Jack’s questions. However, Summer will think it’s best to just let Kyle explain.

Kyle will indeed find Jack later and admit Ashland found about the affair. He’ll reveal that Ashland is divorcing Tara, but Jack won’t understand why Tara would reach out to Kyle since it might make the situation more volatile.

Kyle will argue that Tara didn’t have a choice and will insist it’s time for Jack to know the whole truth.

At the psychiatric hospital, Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) will pay Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) a visit. Chelsea will promise she’s getting out soon and isn’t crazy, so Chloe will ask if she’s saying she pretended to need psychiatric care.

Chelsea will insist she’s doing what she has to do. She’ll worry about how Chloe will handle the cops’ harassment, but Chloe will note that she already talked to Rey and denied her involvement.

When Chloe finds out Chelsea summoned Rey for a conversation, she’ll think it’s better to stay away since the slightest slip could make Rey catch on.

Chelsea will find out Chloe told Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) everything, so she’ll lash out and demand to know why Chloe would do that. Chloe will insist she trusts Kevin with her life – and he already suspected she was caught up in all this anyway.

Chelsea will promise that she left Chloe out of it and would never implicate Chloe, who did nothing wrong.

Talk will turn to Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and Chelsea’s concerns about her son hating her. Chloe won’t think that’s going to happen and will vow to look into Connor’s current situation for Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) will remind Rey that Chelsea was raised to be a con artist. They’ll consider the possibility that Chelsea’s push for a visit was about scoring sympathy ahead of her sentencing.

Rey will also consider the idea that Chelsea’s entire confession was manipulation and will want to talk to her doctor.

Sharon will suggest that maybe another detective should tie up the loose ends. She’ll worry about Chelsea coming up with more twisted fantasies that could come between them, but Rey will offer reassurance. He won’t intend to let Chelsea shake them again.

Even so, Sharon will wonder if Rey really wants to put himself in a position where he’s obsessing about Adam when he doesn’t have to. Rey will promise Sharon that his part in this case is almost over.

At Adam’s penthouse, Phyllis will drop by with a warning. She won’t share Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) view about Adam’s capacity to change and will vow to come down on Adam like a sledgehammer if he takes advantage of Nick’s goodwill.

When Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) runs into Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) at Society, they’ll discuss how Adam and Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) used to be friends before they had a falling out.

Nina will realize Victoria’s not cutting Adam any slack over the kidney he gave Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster).

Victoria will make it clear that one good deed doesn’t erase Adam’s past. She’ll want Adam away from her family, but she’ll feel like they’re stuck with him now.

Over with Nick, he’ll text Summer in hopes of having a conversation. Summer will text back about her busy day, but she’ll promise that they’ll talk soon.

Next, Nick will congratulate Sharon on Rey’s decision to move back in. When Nick hints about Adam turning things around, Victoria will waltz over and roll her eyes. She won’t like the idea of Nick falling for Adam’s mind games, too.

After they grab a table on the patio, Nick will argue that there’s a difference between having blinders on and keeping an open mind. Victoria will counter that Nick’s letting his guard down and knows better than that.

Back at Society, Ashland will sit down for a meeting with Victor and Adam. There’ll be no hard feelings over Victor’s “hardball tactics” since Ashland would’ve done the same thing if the roles were reversed.

After Ashland and Adam allude to each other’s personal drama, Billy will come in and ask if they’re all discussing the demise of ChancComm. He won’t be concerned and will promise they can take whatever Cyaxares dishes out.

Once Victor informs Billy about the name changing to Newman Media, he’ll call it “adorable” and suggest Victoria is sure to love that.

After Billy exits, Ashland will note that he’d balk at the name change if he didn’t have so much on his mind. That said, Ashland will think it’s a good idea to capitalize on the Newman family name.

Victor will promise to obliterate ChancComm, so Ashland will like their agenda. He’ll seem pleased as Victor declares this isn’t a game – it’s war!

Once Billy makes it to the new condo with Lily, they’ll get comfortable for their picnic. Billy will insist that anywhere with Lily feels like home as they canoodle.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Billy and Lily still have some challenges ahead of them, so stay tuned to Y&R. CDL’s where you want to be for terrific Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news, so pop back in soon.
