In tonight’s Chicago Med episode, a set of young parents came in with a sick baby. The baby’s name is Kayla. She wasn’t even six months and she was crying all the time. She couldn’t keep her food down. Her parents knew something was wrong, but it’s a mystery about what it could be and so Dr. Scott asked Crockett to come in and see her. Crockett wanted to perform a surgery to see what was wrong.

It scared Kayla’s parents. They were still babies themselves and Kayla was their first child. The doctors asked the parents if there was anyone else they could call to sit with them. Only they said there wasn’t anyone else. It was just them three. Kendrick and Lucy comforted each other when their baby was taken to surgery.

Crockett was barely in when he noticed what was wrong. Kayla has a birth defect that affected her intestines and she needs an organ donation, but it could only come from another baby donor and those are rare. There’s a very good chance that the baby could die before she gets her donation. The doctors had to inform her parents of the risk. The baby may not know what’s going on, but the parents do. They were devastated when they learned what was wrong. They had hoped the doctors could fix it in surgery. And unfortunately that wasn’t the case because the most they could do for little Kayla is keep her stable.

Later, Crockett got pulled into another case. A married couple was involved in a car accident and both husband and wife were in poor shape. The husband was brain dead. He thankfully was an organ donor. Dr. Blake got called in and someone’s life was going to be saved. The wife on the other hand wasn’t conscious and she was pregnant. She was almost full-term. Crockett hated himself for thinking it but he couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if the baby doesn’t make it. If the baby doesn’t make it, its organs will be up for grabs. Crockett was thinking that and hating himself for thinking that when he found out the mother was brain dead as well.

The couple’s parents came in. They got to decide whether or not to induce their daughter Rose to see if they could still have a grandchild after this and so the doctors performed an emergency c-section. They were doing this as Taylor and Dr. Charles teamed up again to help someone’s mother. The patient’s name is Kiran Patel. She was unable to move her legs. She also had a history of MS in the family and so they tested her for that. She didn’t have MS. She didn’t have anything wrong with her physically. It had to be mentally. This was when Charles entered the picture. He talked to Kiran and she tried to claim there was nothing.

But the doctors learned that Kiran began experiencing symptoms around the time she arranged her daughter’s marriage. Her daughter Varsha hasn’t even met her fiancé yet. He wanted to meet her once he heard there was something wrong with her mom and that’s when Kiran had a panic attack. She said her daughter couldn’t get married. She dreaded it. She even seemed to fear it. Charles was talking to her when Crockett heard back from the baby patient. He had wanted the baby to live and unfortunately it didn’t make it. The baby that was just born to the couple in the car accident was born brain dead.

If the baby is a match, Kayla might get the organs she needs to live. Crockett was studying the case to see if all the markers were there and most importantly of all he needed the grandparents to sign off on the donation. The doctors told the grandparents that the baby didn’t make it. But all they see is that the baby is on machines. They still think he’ll survive. They even named him Tyler. Goodwin suggested that they give the grandparents time and truly that’s all they needed to come to terms with the truth. They later decided to donate the baby’s organs as well. Tyler was a match for Kayla. Kayla was going to get her new intestines.

Charles meanwhile had Kiran speak to her daughter. Kiran had had an arranged marriage and she hated it. She was glad when her husband eventually died. She felt free of him and so she regrets arranging her daughter’s match. She didn’t want her daughter to go through the same thing. Kiran and Varsha talked about the past. About Varsha’s father. Varsha understood her mother’s fear for her, but she was a different person to her mom and she wanted to go ahead with the arranged marriage. She later met her fiancé. He was tall and handsome. He was a nice guy. it wasn’t much, but it was Varsha’s.

Taylor didn’t understand it. She’s been on blind dates. Its horrible. Only that was her and she was still pursuing things with Dr. Shentu.

Tyler’s grandparents asked to meet Kayla’s parents and everyone was happier having met each other.

Halstead decided to put his money into real estate and he was feeling good about it, but it turns out Dr. Asher is coming back and there’s a chance the two of them might pick up from where they left off.

THE END!
