Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, August 1, reveals that Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) rejected Evan Frears aka Christian Maddox (Brock Kelly) as a psychiatric patient. Steve Johnson (Stephen Nicholas) also admitted to wanting Orpheus (George DelHoyo), so here’s how all the DOOL action went down.
In the town square on Monday’s DOOL episode, Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) was surprised to find Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) looking so emotional over Jake DiMera’s (Brandon Barash) death.
Despite all the drama that came later, Gwen still had some good memories.
Leo eventually steered Gwen to focus on Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and the possibility of winning him back.
Gwen hinted that she might have a shot now that Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) was caught up in Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) murder investigation.
Meanwhile, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) stopped by Sarah’s hotel suite and quizzed her since she was a person of interest in the case.
Sarah recapped her violent hallucinations – and although she couldn’t remember being at the mansion, she admitted it was possible she stabbed Abigail thinking she was Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk).
Afterward, Sarah left a note for Xander and settled on a strategy that she thought was at least worth a shot.
In Marlena’s office, the doc was taken aback to find Orpheus sitting at her desk.
Orpheus eventually admitted he wanted Marlena to be Evan’s psychiatrist, but Marlena refused.
Despite Orpheus pushing hard for Marlena to help Evan, she would only recommend another doctor and felt Orpheus was playing mind games.
Sarah interrupted the discussion and ripped into Orpheus since he was the reason her baby was dead.
After Sarah’s outburst over the car crash, Orpheus took a jab about her involvement in Abigail’s death.
Once Orpheus left on Monday’s Days episode, Sarah said she wanted Marlena to hypnotize her.
Even if Sarah killed Abigail, she was determined to find out the truth.
At the pub, Steve warned John Black (Drake Hogestyn) that they needed a plan to eliminate Orpheus and mentioned how he threatened his kids in Seattle.
Steve wanted to strike before Orpheus had a chance to pull something else.
John hesitated on a murder plot, but then Orpheus came along and mentioned his chat with Marlena.
Steve seemed hopeful that John now understood the danger.
Back with Chad, he found Gwen and Leo as they were discussing the night Abigail died, but he didn’t overhear.
Chad made it clear that he wasn’t interested in anything they had to say and rejected Gwen’s attempt at comfort.
At the Horton house on Monday’s Days episode, Chad found Thomas DiMera (Cary Christopher) and learned he skipped the aquarium trip with his grandparents.
Since Abigail was going to take Thomas, he didn’t want to go now.
Chad encouraged Thomas to come outside and play, but Thomas lashed out and acted like everyone was treating him differently since his mom died.
After Chad grew frustrated, he snapped about not being able to bring Abigail back.
Thomas ran out of the room, so Chad sank to the floor in despair and gazed at the Abigail pic that Thomas had been looking at on his tablet.
At the Salem PD, Xander threatened to tear Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) apart limb from limb over his made-up Sarah story.
Lucas assured Xander that he only told the cops what he recalled through hypnosis.
Although Xander thought it was awfully convenient for Lucas to remember now, Lucas pointed out that Marlena believed him and had a good reputation.
There was talk about the knife Lucas used to cut the lemon and how it only had his blood on it.
Plus, the police believed Abigail’s wounds were more consistent with a steak knife.
Back with Gwen, she questioned how Leo had money for a fancy lunch – causing him to flash back to the stolen jewelry.
When Xander appeared, he offered updates on Lucas most likely being innocent.
Xander mentioned that a steak knife was the suspected murder weapon, so Leo looked uneasy as he flashed back to the steak knife in the DiMera secret room.
At the hospital again, Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) insisted that Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) would oversee the DNA test personally so that he could be sure.
Evan was OK with that and knew the results would prove Shawn Christian Brady was actually his son.
Orpheus later found Evan and mentioned that Marlena refused to be his psychiatrist.
Evan insisted he didn’t need mental help and felt he’d be fine after he had his son back.
Once the paternity test results were in, they proved Evan was indeed Shawn Christian’s biological father.
Shawn looked distraught, but Evan lit up over the evidence he needed.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Shawn will want to fight for the baby, but his plan could hit some huge snags!
