General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 24, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) stopped by Kelly’s to grill Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) about her visit to Pentonville. Sonny asked if Carly saw Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) and whether he was there with anyone.

Carly admitted that she indeed saw Austin and assumed he was there for a patient in the infirmary since he had his doctor’s bag.

Talk turned to Drew protecting Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and how “Book” (Brad Schmidt) wouldn’t bother Drew again. That led to Carly realizing Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) had been there to warn “Book” for Sonny.

Carly asked how Dex was doing, so Sonny wondered why she’d ask that. After Carly pointed out that Dex was dating her daughter, she said she didn’t want Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) dragged into anything dangerous.

Sonny reassured Carly before asking her to let him know if she learned anything else about Austin. The doc got under Sonny’s skin, so he was determined to find out why.

At GH, Ava Jerome (Maura West) brought Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) some coffee and talked about how she thought Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) was good for Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali).

After Ava urged Portia to give Spencer a chance for Trina’s sake, she wondered when Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) was coming home. Portia suggested it was a matter of “if” Curtis would come home since she didn’t know where things stood between them.

Although Portia wanted to be in this for the long haul with Curtis, she felt like he was shutting her out. Ava thought Portia should keep telling Curtis that she’d stand by him until he truly heard her.

At Curtis’ rehab facility, he got a visit from Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) and received updates on Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) house fire, which was obviously meant to send a message.

Curtis considered the possibility that maybe the person who fired at the Metro Court wasn’t intending to hit their target. After Curtis suggested that could’ve been about sending a message too, Jordan added that Curtis could’ve been collateral damage.

Later, Curtis watched another disabled patient show great strength while standing upright, but he was uncertain of whether he’d ever get that far. The other patient didn’t think Curtis should compare himself to others and encouraged him to live his new life to the best of his ability.

At the gallery, Spencer told Trina that he honestly hadn’t given much thought to whether he’d still be living with Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) and Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) when Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) returned.

Since so much work went into taking care of Ace, Spencer said it was hard to think about practical things like where he’d be living. Trina struggled over the fact that Spencer couldn’t give her a straightforward answer.

After Spencer told his sob story about being such a lonely boy and thinking his father was gone forever, he wanted to make sure Ace never felt abandoned.

Part of Spencer wanted to believe Nikolas Cassadine (last played by Adam Huss) was forced out of Port Charles, but he felt certain that Nikolas left on his own.

Trina asked why Spencer always assumed the worst of Nikolas and reminded him of some happy father-son memories that he’d once shared with her.

After Trina suggested they’d just have to hope Laura and Kevin found answers, Spencer wanted to help her hang new art for the gallery. However, Esme interrupted with a text to ask if Spencer would be home for dinner.

Trina claimed she understood that Spencer had to go be with Ace, but he acted like he wanted to stick around with Trina instead. Portia showed up with dinner to share with Trina moments later, so Spencer wound up leaving.

During their conversation, Portia admitted she wanted to visit Curtis, but she just cried in the parking lot for 20 minutes before leaving. It was hard to see Curtis when he only wanted to push her away.

Portia didn’t know what to do, so Trina acknowledged that there were no easy answers and pulled her mom into a hug.

At home, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) asked Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) if she’d go check on Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) since he was trying to act crazy to get committed. Dante’s concern was that Cody would get in Ferncliff and not be able to get out.

In the stables, Cody heard Mac Scorpio (John J. York) coming, so he messed up his hair and acted unhinged the moment Mac walked in. Cody had another major outburst and pushed Mac to cuff him.

However, Mac talked about how he understood Cody’s perspective when it came to Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) since something similar happened when Dominique Stanton (Shell Danielson) was in a mental hospital.

Since Mac thought Cody was his son for a short time, he couldn’t back off and felt that Dominique would want him to look out for Cody.

After Sam showed up and witnessed one of Cody’s wild displays, she privately called him out and urged him to drop the act. Cody ultimately asked Sam to help him get committed, but she felt it was a terrible plan and offered a firm “no way.”

When Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) arrived to pick up Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez), Dante quizzed him about the ELQ emergency and why he had to rush off at the time of the fire.

Charlotte appeared and saved Valentin from the rest of the conversation. After Charlotte mentioned Dante taking her to see Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan), she said she kept hoping her mom would wake up, but there was never any change.

While Charlotte was packing up her things, Valentin spoke to Dante alone and pushed for a heads-up if he was going to take Charlotte to see Lulu.

After Valentin said it was upsetting for Charlotte, Dante insisted Lulu was her mother and that he wasn’t going to ask for permission to take Charlotte to see her.

At Deception, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) was furious as she insisted someone was out to bring them down with malicious intent. Maxie Jones (Kristen Storms), Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) all got awful news.

Someone had filed an intellectual property left lawsuit claiming that they stole The Deceptor, but Lucy said that was outrageous since it was her idea with a little inspiration from Martin Grey (Michael Grey).

Gladys was angry about not being able to sell Sasha’s Deception stock, but there was a court order prohibiting that as part of the lawsuit. The others seemed suspicious of Gladys’ urgent need for money, but she acted like this was about Sasha’s medical bills.

Of course, Lucy was more concerned about their best-selling product being on ice while stocks tanked, so she called this an absolute nightmare before storming out.

Brook Lynn looked guilty during all the drama since she clearly suspected Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) had a hand in all this.

General Hospital spoilers say Brook Lynn will fight back soon enough, but Tracy has even more tricks up her sleeve! CDL’s where you want to be for thrilling General Hospital spoilers, updates and news, so stop by regularly for more GH details.
