In tonight’s Welcome to Plathville episode, there have been some changes since the concert. Kim finally gave up on the boat. She needed more space. She has a lot of kids and she would like for them to be able to come over and enjoy themselves in her home. Plus, her kids were calling her houseboat the turd because “all it does is float”.

Kim gave up the boat and she’s now living in a small home. Her kids come over for family dinner. Barry also comes over. Kim was technically still married to Barry. They broke up three years ago. They were still trying to get a divorce and they didn’t have much communication with each other outside of the kids.

Ethan still lived in Minnesota. He missed the recent family dinner. Lydia lives in Tallahassee now and she came back to Cairo because she had some news to share. Moriah wasn’t there for the dinner either because she was working. Micah’s girlfriend also wasn’t there.

There’s been some tension between Veronica and Barry and Moriah. Maybe it had something to do with everything that went down with Moriah’s ex-boyfriend. She tosses the guy and often burns people that tried to warn her against him. Barry not liking someone could just be him siding with Moriah or another replay of the Olivia situation.

Remember Olivia. She’s Ethan’s ex-wife. She grew up like him. They got married really young. They’re divorced now because they went out into the world and Olivia didn’t want to stay the same.

She grew up. Ethan didn’t like the new her. She didn’t like the old him. His family then took up against her. They turned on her so viciously that the young couple left town. Olivia was still good with Moriah and Micah at first in the few years after they left Cairo. Until her in-laws began believing she was behind all the strife in the family.

Micah blamed his feud with his parents all on her. He said she pushed him to break away from family’s traditions. Well, she was out of the picture when he moved in with his girlfriend before marriage.

She’s still out of the picture now that it’s Veronica that doesn’t feel comfortable going to the family dinners. Veronice missed out on Lydia’s big news. Lydia came to Cairo with her boyfriend, Zac. Zac came with her on this trip because he wants to ask Barry’s permission to marry Lydia. It’s a big thing for them.

They met in Colorado at church. She was visiting with some friends. They talked. They liked each other. They started dating long-distance. They haven’t even kissed each other yet. They were having a very Christian courtship. Lydia has already met his family. He was meeting hers. It was going well and this drama between Moriah and Veronica wasn’t helping things. Veronica knew she was being Olivia’d. She was honest about Moriah’s ex. Moriah called her liar. She claimed Veronica made the ex sound worse than he was. And they ended up breaking up anyways.

The problem wasn’t just the ex. It was Moriah. Moriah never apologized for painting Veronica as the bad guy. She tried to turn everyone against her. She never admitted guilt or tried to talk it out. Its been eight months since they last talked. Veronica wasn’t going to keep trying with her. It left Micah in an awkward position. He just bought a house with Veronica and now his live-in girlfriend was fighting with his sister. Moriah also was the one that accused Olivia of some hurtful things. Veronica brought that up after she got Moriah’s letter.

Moriah apologized for the way she treated her in the letter. She didn’t apologize her for accusing her of lying. Only Veronica is mad now. She didn’t want a mere letter. She wanted Moriah to fight for her like she once fought for Moriah. She also hated how Moriah turned Barry against her. Moriah was Barry’s daughter and it’s understandable that he would side with her. It’s just frustrating that Barry hasn’t once questioned Veronice’s innocence in the matter. If Moriah says Olivia is a thief, she’s a thief. If Moriah says Veronica is a liar, she’s a liar.

Nevermind that Moriah has already been proven wrong about Olivia. She’s now done the same thing to someone else. Moriah’s excuse for her behavior was that she has a hard time standing up to assertive people. She hated that she told Veronica things about her ex and Veronica took up against him. Yes, Veronica shouldn’t have shared things Moriah told her in confidence. Their conversations should have remained between them or with Micah at home. Micah was also no help because he was unwilling to confront his family about Veronica. And Ethan at least did that much for Olivia.

A new house was probably a bad idea now that Micah’s relationship with Veronica was fracturing. Micah wasn’t there when Zac eventually got Barry’s permission, but Ethan was visiting when he heard about the engagement and he wasn’t happy. Ethan didn’t think Lydia should marry someone after a mere three months. This family has suffered way too many breakups for someone as jaded as Ethan to think three months is feasible. Ethan also suspected that Zac might be gay.

And Veronica destroyed whatever future she might have with Micah when she later reached out to Olivia.

THE END!
