Mariah Carey’s whistle register – the highest register of the human voice – is one of her most redeeming qualities. The aptly named “Mariah Note” is the pop music version of Maurice Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit. It all started in 1990 with the release of Mariah’s self-titled debut album.
“Mariah Carey” received universal critical acclaim and went multi-platinum within a matter of weeks. As of 2010, the album has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. And as they say in history class, “The rest is history”.
Mariah married her mentor Tommy Mottola in 1993. The couple divorced in 1998 due to “creative differences” and Mottola’s controlling, borderline-abusive nature. Ten years later Mariah married actor and comedian Nick Cannon. In 2011, Mariah gave birth to fraternal twins named Monroe Cannon and Moroccan Scott Cannon. THAT WAS THE PAST

The Real Mariah said “nuh-uh” and kicked Nick and his sexy skeletons out of the house. According to a recent Celeb Dirty Laundry article, “We’ve been saying that Mariah and Nick’s divorce is a sure thing for the better part of the year, since it’s not like Nick tried to hide the fact. First of all, Mariah barely visited him on set while he was working, but Nick also hinted at the split in several interviews. In fact, he was extremely obvious during one such interview, and point-blank refused to deny the divorce rumors, instead saying that he would always put his kids first.”
Nick’s failure as a husband, coupled with Mariah’s naivety, led to what is known as the “OMG Split” – a term used to signify the end of a “they’re so happy” celebrity marriage. Think Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston.
The “Mariah Note” is now the saddest note known to mankind. It is on par with Sicilian funerals and lopsided birthday cakes. PRESENT DAY
