The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Y&R Characters Great and Terrible – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Young and the Restless spoilers continues to document all things Y&R. Offered opinions about any current character will likely create contrary reactions, some of which real, while others are exaggerated. As with all things, truth is in the soapy eye of the beholder.

The inimitable Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has endured in daytime since 1980. Anyone who achieves that status will naturally open himself up for critique. Yes, Braeden’s public and social media persona can be tagged as eclectic. He’s a political person who believes that his view of reality is correct.

Depending upon one’s point of view that makes him a hero, or an old goat. A nearly identical assessment can also be made regarding the character he plays, which seems to indicate that one man has rubbed off on the other.

Pikki Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). Well, leading with that nickname implies that this character is a drama queen. Scott gained fame in the 1980’s through Edward Scott’s assistance. He was a Y&R honcho who became her husband and eventually was tasked with working on The Bold and the Beautiful by the Bell family.

Scott is a solid actor who’s skillfully handled a repetitive role for many decades. Glancing back at her early work, it seems that the absence of her real life husband allowed better performances for the audience to be given. She wasn’t trying to please her real life man, but instead was merely playing off Victor and therefore excelled.

Peter Bergman doesn’t have a social media presence, though he’s surely been encouraged to do so by his employer. That appears to match Jack’s entitled attitude, but could also mean that Bergman is just an old school guy.

Without Jack, Victor wouldn’t have had as many great verbal duels. Every villain, or anti-hero needs a foil and Jackie-boy is clearly that for the Moustache. Separate from all things Newman, Bergman had solid chemistry with Michelle Stafford (formerly Phyllis), elicits terrific vulnerability, especially in Abbott family scenes and has a great wit.

Sharon Case is arguably the best actor on the show. Her unrivaled performances through the years are indelible. No Y&R fan will ever forget the torture she endured when Cassie (played by the great Camryn Grimes) died and when Nick (Joshua Morrow) abandoned Shick.

Others claim that Sharon has been one-dimensional since Cassie’s demise. Possibly that’s why Y&R has rewritten Case’s character back to normalcy this year.

Grimes is arguably the greatest younger actor on the show. She embraced the deep challenge of creating a new character after first embodying the beloved Cassie in the 1990’s.

Mariah has become a stand alone soul. This character’s personal development could only have been achieved through an actor whose talent range extends off the page. Some might claim that they’ll always see Grimes as Cassie.

But that choice, which can also be applied to the other actors in this piece is fully subjective. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless. Check back regularly for Y&R spoilers and news!
