The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Thursday, August 5 Recap – Kyle Rages at Tara for Forced Breakup – Summer’s Tearful Warning

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 5, reveals that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will rage at Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) for forcing his breakup. Meanwhile, Summer Newman (Hunter King) will deliver a tearful warning to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) as her fears grow. Here’s what Y&R viewers can expect in Thursday’s thrilling show.

In a suite at The Grand Phoenix, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will push Phyllis to be honest about what she’s up to. Phyllis will confess that she’s hacking into Tara’s business records, but she hasn’t been able to get through Tara’s firewall yet.

Nick will worry about this scheme being “next level” and will warn that it could backfire on Phyllis.

However, Phyllis will feel like it’s up to them to find a way to neutralize Tara. She’ll download a program that will hopefully get them all the info they need to expose Tara for the person she really is.

At the Abbott mansion, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will insist he’s not accusing Tara and not judging her. He’ll give Tara an opportunity to tell the truth and own her mistakes.

Tara will finally admit that when she reconnected with Kyle and asked for help, he was mature and finally ready to be a father.

Although Tara supposedly tried to mean it when she congratulated Kyle on his engagement to Summer, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) pushed Tara to go after what she wanted.

Tara will admit that Sally arranged for Summer to get a fabulous job offer in Europe, so all Tara had to do was get Summer to accept it.

Jack will guess that Tara accomplished that by threatening to take Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) out of Kyle’s life. Tara will snap that Jack shouldn’t judge her and will insist she was trying to do what was best for her son.

At Crimson Lights, Summer will call Kyle back for a video chat, but she won’t think it’s a good idea for them to talk.

Kyle will insist he’s going to find out the real reason Summer broke up with him – with or without her help. He’ll question what kind of pressure Summer was under when she made the decision to leave him.

Summer will warn Kyle to stop coming up with alternate scenarios for why they broke up for his own sake. Kyle will get the feeling that Jack’s suggestion was right – that Tara was using Harrison as leverage.

Summer will break down in tears as she admits Tara indeed threatened to disappear with Harrison. She’ll be concerned when Kyle abruptly ends the call and heads off to confront manipulative Tara.

In New York, Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will find Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) after she’s had time to process the marriage proposal.

Victoria will seem a bit uncertain at first, but she’ll ultimately decide that she doesn’t want to rein herself in when it comes to Ashland. She’ll confirm that her answer is yes, so Ashland will pull her into a passionate kiss.

After a toast, Ashland will suggest that they should keep this between them so that people won’t judge what they don’t understand.

Victoria won’t care about anyone else’s opinion and won’t think they should settle for eloping. She’ll propose the idea of an epic wedding celebration, so Ashland will love the idea since it’ll give him something to plan and look forward to.

At Society, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will meet with Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc), who’ll admit he may not be able to get the charges reinstated without substantial evidence against Sutton Ames (Jack Landron).

Nevertheless, Michael will imply that he’s good at his job and will urge Amanda to hang in there.

After Amanda invites Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) and Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey) to lunch, Naya will ask if Sutton knew he was being recorded. She’ll think it’d be clever for Sutton to say just enough to get her released without incriminating himself.

Imani will pipe up that Sutton did incriminate himself as far as she’s concerned. Amanda will admit Naya’s right from a legal standpoint since Michael warned there may not be enough for reinstated charges.

Even so, Amanda will feel confident about the case going to trial. She’ll also warn that if Sutton is acquitted, she could hit him with a civil suit and deliver the final blow to his political career.

Naya will accuse Amanda of being vindictive, but Amanda will push her mother to see this from her perspective.

Amanda will get why Naya doesn’t want to believe Sutton is responsible for Richard Nealon’s death, but she’ll think Naya knows it’s true in her heart.

Naya will tearfully wonder if admitting it would be enough for Amanda to let go of this crusade, but Amanda will give her a firm no on that.

It would, however, be a nice start for Amanda and Naya to heal their relationship.

Later, Naya will suggest she’s sorry for dragging Amanda into this mess. She’ll assure Amanda that when she approached her about defending Sutton, she truly thought he was innocent and wasn’t trying to trick Amanda into defending her Richard’s murderer.

While Naya’s in the restroom fixing her makeup, Imani will hint that a civil suit would be hard on their mother. She’ll suggest maybe Amanda should focus on building her future instead of litigating Sutton’s past.

After Amanda narrows her eyes, she’ll ask if Imani has a problem with her holding Sutton accountable.

Imani will point out that she grew up believing the same things as Naya did about Sutton. She’ll push for patience as she works to separate reality from the misconceptions she had before.

Amanda will get choked up over how much it means to have her sister and her mother in her life, that’ll bring a sweet moment with Imani.

Back with Phyllis and Nick, they’ll get a video call from an upset Summer. After Summer whines about her mom stirring up trouble and ruining everything, Nick will defend Phyllis since she’s found some pretty damning evidence.

Phyllis will mention that Sally went to Eric Forrester (John McCook) so that he’d recommend Summer for her new job.

That news will come as a surprise to Summer, though she’ll admit she assumed Sally was involved somehow.

When pressed, Summer will finally blurt out that Tara forced her to leave town using Harrison. She’ll worry about Kyle confronting Tara and will warn that it’ll be Phyllis’ fault if all this blows up.

Phyllis will offer reassurance and add that she’s digging into Tara’s past. That’ll leave Summer even more agitated as she declares that Phyllis has done enough.

After Summer ends the call, Nick will suggest that Phyllis shouldn’t expect any gratitude if her actions lead to Tara taking off with Harrison.

Suddenly, the program will ding with a notification to let Phyllis know she can access Tara’s hard drive. Phyllis will insist she can now get to all Tara’s company’s financials and expose them. “That bitch isn’t getting away with this,” Phyllis will insist.

At the Abbott mansion again, Kyle will storm in and rant about Tara bullying Summer into breaking up with him as well as driving her out of town. Jack will reveal that Tara just admitted it and will do his best to calm Kyle down.

Kyle will still be shouting when Tara comes downstairs and pushes him to keep his voice down for Harrison’s sake.

“How could you do this to me?!” Kyle will bark. He’ll blast Tara for consoling him over the breakup after being the one who caused it. Tara will realize there’s no coming back from this, so she’ll ask where this leaves them now.
