The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Tuesday, September 21 Recap – Tessa Pushed to Pregnancy - Billy Spots Ashland with Gaines

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Tuesday, September 21, teases that Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will cave to Jesse Gaines’ (Jamison Jones) fast cash demand while Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) pushes for Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) pregnancy.

At Crimson Lights on Tuesday’s Y&R episode, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will urge Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to admit he’s not satisfied with the answers Ashland offered.

Billy will point out that Ashland still won’t tell his birth name or how he got the money to buy those news stations when he was barely out of his teens.

Afterward, Nick will tell Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) about Ashland changing his name to escape an abusive father – though he’ll ask to keep that information between them.

Nick will admit he’s thinking of doing some digging himself, but he’ll want Rey’s help to point him in the right direction.

Rey will note that if Ashland’s name change wasn’t in public records, then he must not have gone through the usual channels.

Rey will assume Ashland found a way to bend the rules, but Nick won’t know how Ashland would’ve pulled that off with no clout or money at the time.

Rey will add that it’s not easy to change your identity since it also requires a new birth certificate and a new social security number. He’ll marvel at someone like Ashland, who was under so much public scrutiny, being able to keep this identity change hidden.

In Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) office, she’ll admire her portrait along with Ashland.

Talk will turn to Ashland’s excitement over the wedding before he dashes off to take care of a few things. After texting that he’s on his way, he’ll meet up with Gaines at Society.

Gaines will insist that based on Ashland’s livestream, it looks like his yearly pension is going to end sooner than expected. He’ll want to adjust the terms of their agreement, but Ashland will complain about Gaines referring to blackmail in that way.

However, Gaines will argue that he’s grown accustomed to the lifestyle his $300,000 a year offers him. He’ll want a $3 million lump sum payout to cover 10 years of payments since Ashland is apparently running out of time – and he’ll want it by the end of the day in cash.

Ashland won’t think he can come up with that kind of money so fast, but Gaines will refuse to wait until after the wedding.

Gaines will fear that if Ashland leaves the country, he might not come back.

Ashland will contend that he’s marrying the woman he loves rather than plotting an escape, but Gaines won’t seem convinced.

When Gaines says he’s willing to wait until tomorrow, Ashland will reluctantly agree to make the $3 million happen.

Ashland will warn that’d better be the end of it and will add that coming back for more would be the biggest mistake of Gaines’ life.

While Ashland and Gaines are having this tense conversation, Billy will peer in the window looking suspicious.

At The Grand Phoenix, Victoria will show up for a facial at the spa. Her enthusiasm for the wedding will seem a bit over the top to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), but they’ll manage to have a civil conversation.

Next, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will stop by to ask Phyllis a question about her transportation to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) wedding in Milan.

Jack will wonder if Phyllis and Nick would like to fly over with him on the Jabot jet, so Phyllis will think that sounds great – though she’ll want to run it by Nick first.

As for what Jack said to Phyllis the other night, she’ll want to address it. Phyllis will admit she loves Jack as well, but he’ll get that it’s not the same.

That’s when Phyllis will counter that it is the same – that she “really loves” Jack and he has a permanent place in her heart. Phyllis will want Jack to hold onto that knowledge.

When Nick arrives, he’ll hear about the Jabot jet offer and agree since Phyllis won’t want to spend 10 hours on a plane with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

Nick will also mention he’s torn about whether to dig into Ashland’s past or stay out of it to preserve his relationship with Victoria. Phyllis will hint that she knows what she would do!

Once Ashland returns to Victoria’s office, he’ll sense that she still has doubts about him.

Ashland will wonder how he can fix that, so Victoria will want reassurance that there are no more surprises. Ashland will then promise that Victoria knows every important thing about him.

After Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) agrees to move in with Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), they’ll make love before she goes to get her belongings from her suite.

That’s where a frantic Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) will show up to discuss Naya Benedict’s (Ptosha Storey) heart condition.

Imani will be surprised to hear that Amanda already reached out to Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), who put her in touch with some specialists.

After Imani admits she’s not used to having someone to lean on like this, Amanda will acknowledge that this sister thing will take some getting used to.

They’ll be happy to have each other and will decide to enjoy some sister bonding right now.

Amanda will go along with Imani’s idea about room service and streaming a new French film, but she’ll want to let Devon know first.

After Imani eavesdrops on the call, she’ll realize Amanda’s moving in with Devon.

Imani will note that she’s a little jealous since Amanda found such a spectacular once in a lifetime catch, so Amanda will admit she’s a lucky woman.

Next, Mariah will tell Tessa that the answer appeared like a lightning bolt. She’ll want to start a family with Tessa – and since her OB-GYN said she shouldn’t get pregnant again for at least 12 months, she’ll think Tessa should carry the baby.

Mariah will gush about what a life-changing experience it’ll be for Tessa, but Tessa will think Mariah needs to focus on working through what happened to her first.

Tessa will suggest having this conversation when they’re both ready, so Mariah will take a nap before bringing it up again.

When Tessa remains unsettled, Mariah will assume that means she’s not on board with having a baby for them.

Tessa will love that Mariah’s thinking about their future and will indeed want a family with her. She’ll just think this is sudden and too important to rush.

Tessa won’t want to do this for the wrong reasons, but Mariah won’t think that’s what she’s doing and will tell Tessa she really needs this.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Mariah’s emotional struggles will continue, so don’t miss what’s ahead.
