The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap review for the week of November 7-11 reveals that a secret baby bomb dropped while some cheating exposures went down. Y&R finally got soapy, so the result was certainly entertaining to watch!
There are times when it feels like this show has all the right drama ingredients and characters, but they tend to take the least soapy route possible.
Instead of giving Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) a major murder mystery exit, he accidentally hit his head and died after a fight with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) didn’t even get in real trouble for trying to cover it up.
Instead of sending Ashland out with a bang, he went out with barely a whimper.
Likewise, there have been other stories – like Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) chickening out and confessing his takedown plan – where things just fell flat in the end.
That’s why it was so delightfully shocking when Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) cheated at the penthouse.
The show even went the extra scandalous mile by having both Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) walk in on the forbidden passion.
It’s tough to remember the last time Y&R did something that soapy, but we welcome the change!
Fortunately, they were able to keep the big reveals coming later during the week of November 7-11.
Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) dropped a baby bomb on Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) when she admitted she was pregnant at the time of their breakup.
Although Audra ultimately miscarried, this felt like such a great shocker to include – one that gave Noah and Audra’s offscreen love story some depth.
The best part is Audra’s manipulative enough that we can’t even say for sure her story is true!
It was just soapy all around since Noah wound up embracing Audra right as Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) walked in.
We’d love to see the show keep it up when it comes to bringing more dramatic moments and story twists.
Of course, they also offered some rich bonding scenes at Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) facility.
This version of the Chelsea and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) pairing hasn’t been as popular as past versions, but that “Chadam” hug was still moving and had many fans shipping them all over again.
It was nice to see some deep character interactions to go along with the soapiness, so it was a fantastic week of episodes!
