The Young and the Restless spoilers has some sad news to pass on about a former Y&R star. Brenda Epperson, who portrayed Ashley Abbott from 1988-1995, has shared with her fans that she recently experienced a devastating loss. Brenda posted on social media that her father has passed away.
Brenda posted a family photo that included her father on Instagram, along with the following message: “Rest In Peace, Daddy. We love you, Daddy, saying goodbye is never easy, you will always be in our hearts. Thank you for all of the love you have given us every day of our lives. I’m glad you are out of pain. Praying your heart is healing Mom. Praying the pain in our country is healed in Jesus’ name. #justbelieve”
Long-time viewers of Y&R will remember Brenda’s stint as Ashley as quite eventful from a romantic perspective. Ashley lost her husband Steven Lassiter (Rod Arrants), and married Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), then later married Blade Bladeson (Michael Tylo). Ashely eventually left Genoa City for Paris to grieve her loss when Blade passed away.
After leaving Y&R, Brenda appeared on the NBC soap Passions in 2000, and she has had several parts over the years in various TV series. Most recently, Brenda has appeared in the TV series The Rich and the Ruthless in the role of Edith Norman.
And if you were lucky enough to be watching the encore episode of Y&R that aired on Monday, June 1st, you might have noticed that Brenda was portraying Ashley on that episode. The episode originally aired on January 11, 1991, and Ashley was present for Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) and Brad Carlton’s (Don Diamont) wedding.
Brenda’s followers have been steadily replying to her message announcing her father’s passing. One person responded: “So very sorry! I was just watching you on one of the old Y&R episodes this morning and your picture popped up. I’m so sorry you lost your dad! Praying for comfort!”
And another follower commented: “So sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family in this difficult time.” Finally, someone wrote: “All my condolences for you and your family for the loss of your Dad. Much love.”
