The episode begins with Ryan struggling with a security guard and trying to get answers out of him. When he won’t talk, she sprays some Rekindle parfum on him, she asks him if it hurts as bad as it smells. When he still won’t answer, she sprays another kind. He says his boss has gone underground. Back in the bat cave, Luke can’t believe that she couldn’t get any information.
Mary is there, she gets a message about a drunk at the holdup who is acting like she owns the place. Ryan heads over there and sees who is causing all the ruckus and it turns out that it is Kate and she doesn’t remember Mary. Kate went from attacking Mary, to ditching Sophie to treating half the lesbians in Gotham to an open bar. Sophie doesn’t blame Kate; she says that Kate needs time. Mary says Kate needs Alice right now.
We see Alice, she is with Ocean and devasted that he is gone, he asks Mary to bring him back, she says she can’t. Alice asks her if she is there to gloat, Mary says no, she wouldn’t wish this on anyone, not even her. It’s about Kate, she is fine, she is doing great, she came to thank her for saving her. Alice says it costs her Ocean; she should have left with him when she had the chance.
Luke is reading, he has an old-school backup that Kate can read to the job her memory. Ryan tells him that Kate is no ok, they can’t rush this. Luke says he knows Kate, she will survive this, she is resilient and never backed down from a fight, ever. Ryan says they are lucky to have her back.
Luke goes to see Kate; he shows her the journals and tells her maybe reading about her might remind her of who she is. Luke gives her the keys for her motorcycle and tells her that he hopes she didn’t forget how to ride.
Kate goes out for a ride, in her absence she has gotten closer to Safiyah and brings her Kate’s journals. She enters the room, and Roman Sionis aka Black Mask is there, and she calls him daddy.
Ryan is in the Batcave, she sees Kate on video surveillance. Ryan is reflecting on her time at batwoman, she looks on her computer to see where Black Mask has been spending his money. When all of a sudden, crows show up and confiscate her computer and find a snake bite in her van, she tells them that they planted it there.
Alice has Ocean’s ashes, she is walking on the beach, goes down to the water, thinks about him, how she loved him. She opens the urn and pours his ashes in the water. Behind Alice is Safiyah, she says she is there to pay her respects and Alice looks furious.
Ryan is in the back of a car, it is pulled into a garage and Roman gets inside and sits in the front. He says he is merely a concerned citizen trying to restore peace to the city. She tells him that she fights for people who can’t like his daughter, she was assaulted, how the crows covered it up, made her look crazy, and threw her in Arkham where she suffered and died. Roman says, where she was murdered. She says she knows the rage he feels but using her to justify what he is doing dishonors her memory. He tells her that no hard feelings, but he can’t have her getting in his way.
Mary finds out from Luke that Ryan was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, snake bite inhibitors. Meanwhile, we see Sophie with Kate, she shows her a letter that she wrote to her and told her that she loved her. Sophie says she thought she had all the time in the world with her, and all of a sudden it was up, and all she had was that letter. Kate says she is glad that she doesn’t have to lie to her anymore.
Sophie gets a message; Ryan has been arrested. Sophie and Kate go to see Luke, Mary has Kate’s suit, she gives it to her. Kate says Ryan did everything she could to save her life, how could she not do the same. Sophie says she is going with her, Kate says how sweet, then shoots Mary, Luke and tells Sophie the easiest thing she ever did was lie to her, then she shoots her as well. All this with a tranquilizer gun, they are most certainly not all dead.
Ryan is in a holding room with her lawyer who reminds her that she was one week away from her parole board review, she was this close to being free. Ryan says the snake bite was not hers; she has been set up by Black Mask, they are trying to kill her. She tells her lawyer that she is not going to make it out of this building alive. Ryan tells her that she was targeted because she is a batwoman. Two guards come in to get Ryan and when her lawyer tells them she has reason to believe her client is being railroaded, one of them pulls a gun on her. It gives Ryan enough time to react, knock the guards out, her lawyer gives her a pass and tells her she will be able to get out of the parking lot with it.
Back to Alice and Safiyah who say that Ocean’s death was a necessary sacrifice. And they are even now, she took away the desert rose, she took away Ocean. Safiyah tells her that she is there to save her, a storm is coming to Gotham and there is only one place where she can seek shelter.
Luke, Sophie, and Mary are awake, they stuck in a steel elevator. Mary says Kate could have killed them and she didn’t, maybe there is still some Kate left in her. Luke doesn’t think so he thinks Kate just wanted the keys to the castle. We then see Kate, she is going from room to room in the Batcave.
Ryan is back in the Batcave, she finds the three locked up, they tell her that Kate was pretending the whole time and they don’t know where she is. All of a sudden, Kate is back and she sees Ryan who she is intent on putting a stop to.
Safiya tells Alice to go back with her, back home. Alice laughs. Meanwhile, Ryan is able to knock over Kate and knock a weapon out of her hands, the two get into a fight while the trio is trying to escape. Ryan is able to grab the crossbow that Kate had and take control. Safiyah tells Alice that she has no family, she only has her. Alice looks like she is defeated, she hugs Safiyah and then stabs her.
Luke and the rest find out that Kate got into one of Bruce Wayne’s rooms where he kept the weapons that he got from his enemies who he fought over the years and lots is missing. Luke turns to Ryan and tells her that he is sorry. Mary says it is bad, Kate has the suit, the bike, and the weapons. Ryan says she is as scared as hell.
Roman has Bruce Wayne’s enemy’s weapons, Kate takes scissors to the bat suit and scrapes the front of the bat symbol with kryptonite.
