Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman) on The Young and the Restless (Y&R) set a date night for herself and her husband, Justin Gaston. Daytime drama fans were delighted when she glammed up, Abby style, with no help from any of the CBS stylists. Read on to see how she did.
The Date Night Preparations
This week, Melissa and Justin went on a date without the kids, and she decided to try and imitate the same style as her character on the TV show. On Instagram, her reel revealed her trying to “recreate” a recent scene involving the style. There was one spot that showed Melissa putting her hair into a “ponytail.”
The real-life Abby Newman looked amazing when she finished, but she certainly struggled a bit without professional help. In her caption, Melissa wrote:
Get ready with me for a date night to @franklinsocialtn
I was trying to recreate Abby’s look from @youngandrestlesscbs but obviously I’m no professional. @127lo I needed you.
Fans React To The Post
The final photo on the reel revealed that the Y&R star and Justin looked amazing. One fan immediately wrote, “Beautiful. You two are just beautiful Mel. I love how you love each other. You did an amazing job on your hair. The stylist’s on Y&R are amazing, but you did an excellent job.”
Others agreed, and another fan said, “Wow, You Look Amazing! Great photo with your honey!”

As Melissa Ordway tagged stylist Lauren Mendoza, Lauren also paid her a compliment. She wrote in the comments, “You look amazingly gorgeous

Back On The CBS Screen In 2025
Melissa Ordway returned on-screen as Abby in April this year with Devon Winters (Bryton James). Her contract wasn’t renewed, but she still appears on the show. Fans might recall when Justin Gaston stepped in to play Chance during the wedding and honeymoon episodes on the show.
The real-life crossover was a hit with viewers, and it made sense, as he clearly had fantastic chemistry with Melissa’s character, Abby. Justin also made a brief appearance in Melissa’s Instagram reel, complimenting her look.
Melissa and Justin have been married since September 22, 2012. They first met while filming the movie “Escapee” and dated for about a year before tying the knot. They certainly make a striking couple when they’re all dressed up. Y&R fans agreed that Melissa did an outstanding job with her own makeup for the date night as well.
