When The Young and the Restless spoilers confirmed that Justin Hartley had been hired to replace Michael Muhney, and the character of Adam Newman was returning to Genoa City, we all knew it wasn’t going to be as simple as Adam walking in to his house and saying “honey I’m home.” However, Y&R fans never expected the Adam Newman/Gabriel storyline to have this many twists and turns. Recent episodes of the CBS soap have revealed that Gabriel died trying to save Adam in the car wreck, so Adam stole his identity and became Gabriel. Gabriel promised to extract revenge on Victor Newman (who is ironically Adam’s father), and he has to remain married to Sage for three years if he hopes to inherit his dead grandmother’s fortune.
The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that there is no way Adam Newman will be able to keep up the rouse as Gabriel for the next three years. If you are going to steal someone’s identity – you should probably do your homework and steal the identity of someone that no one in your hometown knows. With all of the drama on New Year’s Eve in Genoa City, Y&R fans nearly overlooked a huge spoiler that was dropped regarding Adam Newman’s new identity. While celebrating the holiday, Nick Newman casually mentioned to Gabriel and Sage that he “knew Gabe from the academy.”
The Young and the Restless writers are known to drop not so subtle hints and spoilers regarding upcoming storylines. The fact that Nick Newman actually knew the real Gabriel is a recipe for disaster for Adam Newman. He may have stolen Gabriel’s face, but unfortunately he didn’t steal his memories. Rumor has it that it will only be a matter of time before Nick Newman figures out that Gabriel – isn’t exactly Gabriel. All it will take is one or two conversations for Nick Newman to realize that Gabriel doesn’t remember anything about their time at the academy.
